☀️ BEAT THE HEAT ☀️

Summer in Southern Nevada is NO joke, and with temperatures soaring here in Clark County, we want to make sure our families are keeping their children safe from the dangers of heat exhaustion and dehydration.

🌡️ Know the Warning Signs of Heat Exhaustion in Children:
-Heavy sweating
-Cool, pale, or clammy skin
-Fast or weak pulse
-Nausea or vomiting
-Muscle cramps
-Tiredness, weakness, or dizziness
-Headache or fainting

If your child shows these signs, move them to a cool place immediately, apply cool wet cloths, and call 911 if symptoms worsen.

💧 Keep Kids Hydrated:
-Offer water every 15–20 minutes during outdoor play, even if they don't ask
-Avoid sugary drinks and sodas
-Offer water-rich snacks like watermelon, cucumber, and oranges 🍉
-Remind older kids to drink before they feel thirsty

🕐 Play It Smart Outside:
-Schedule outdoor playtime for early morning or evening when it's cooler
-NEVER leave children in a parked car
-Make sure kids wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
-Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside

💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

At MBOP Tribal Child Care, we believe that caring for our children means caring for the whole child; their minds, their hearts, and their spirits.

Did you know:
🔹 Nearly 1 in 4 children in the U.S. between ages 3–17 has experienced a mental, emotional, or behavioral health challenge.
🔹 Native American youth are 2.5 times more likely to experience trauma than their non-Native peers.
🔹 And yet, American Indian/Alaska Native adults are 17% less likely to receive mental health treatment than the general population.

It's 2026, and people are still suffering quietly because they're afraid of being judged. Our children deserve better. Our families deserve better. Together, we can break the stigma; one family, one conversation, one act of compassion at a time. Check on your people. And if you or someone you know needs support, please reach out. You don't have to carry it alone.

💚 You matter.
💚You are not alone.
💚You are loved.

💐 Happy Mother's Day 💐

Today we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and caregivers who love fiercely, the ones who sacrifice quietly, and the ones whose love lives on in our hearts long after they're gone. You are the heart of our families, and we see you.

Our children carry your love with them wherever they go. We are honored to walk alongside you in supporting them.

🔴 National Day of Awareness for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit People (MMIWG2S) 🔴

At MBOP Tribal ChildCare, we stand with our community and with Indigenous families everywhere who carry this grief. We wear red. We say their names. We demand better.

The crisis by the numbers:

• 4 out of 5 Native women experience some form of violence in their lifetime, and Native women face murder rates more than 10 times the national average.
• In 2024 alone, the FBI recorded over 10,000 missing Indigenous persons reports, and most of the women reported missing were under the age of 18.
• For American Indian and Alaska Native girls, homicide is the third leading cause of death between the ages of 10 and 24.
• Of 5,712 MMIWG cases documented in the U.S., only 116 were ever entered into the Department of Justice database. Our children deserve to be counted. They deserve to be found.

These are not just statistics. These are our daughters, our sisters, our relatives.

As a tribal childcare program, we are committed to nurturing and protecting the next generation. Every child in our care deserves to grow up safe, seen, and celebrated.

🔴 Wear red today. Share this post. Keep saying their names. 🔴
