Taking a tour through the history of the talents and artists, Irma Varela had the opportunity to meet & work with Oscar during her work at Wi******er Dondero Cultural Center. We are proud help her highlight a very special event. The first music concert that reflected the cultural roots of Las Vegas residents, within what we call World Vibrations, a tango concert conducted by Oscar Carrescia in 2005.

This event set an important precedent in celebrating the cultural diversity of our community, bringing audiences closer to the richness of Argentine tradition and demonstrating how music can unite different cultures in a city as diverse as Las Vegas. Thank you, teacher! (And Thank you, Irma!)

Gracias maestro! (¡Y gracias, Irma!)

What stories define Nevada?
For the past eight months, Nevada Arts Council's State Folklorist Brad McMullen has traveled across the Silver State collecting stories from Nevadans about their communities, history, and lived experiences. Our Nevada Stories captures the personal, entertaining, and inspiring moments happening today that will one day become part of our shared history.

New episodes air Thursdays through July 2, exploring themes such as becoming a Nevadan, life on the land, gaming, cities, changing communities, and the stories that could only happen here.

Listen now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, or tune in weekly on Nevada Public Radio in Southern Nevada and KUNR Public Radio in Northern Nevada.
