It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Ms. Ann has passed. She was called home on 11/6/23, her birthday. She was an amazing woman and will truly be missed. If you knew her, then you know she would not want you to be sad or grief-stricken. She would want you to celebrate her life, her name, and her beliefs. Here is to a life well lived. I love you, Mom, forever and always!

The Bureau of Prisons has a history of having the policies it needs to implement criminal justice reform but it is unable, or unwilling, to follow through on them without intervention. A Federal Public Defender in Oregon has some ideas that will make the Agency better.

Derrick Hamilton, deputy director of Cardozo School of Law's Perlmutter Center for Legal Justice, studied law while in prison and won his own exoneration after serving a 21-year sentence. Today, he hopes to make big changes in the justice system to ensure others don't need to do the same.

Western Center for Defense Advocacy is a non-profit (501 ( c) (3) organization dedicated to providing information and access to legal resources as well as various support services to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals in the federal criminal justice system. The primary component of WECDA is Post Sentencing Mitigation through Habeas and various other pleadings. Our Organization provides case analysis, technical consulting, research assistance, and document preparation for licensed legal counsel and their clients who have been convicted in criminal legal proceedings and are seeking post-conviction mitigation to lessen the impact of the federal sentencing guidelines on the term the court imposed. Our firm is composed of a team of non-attorney legal professionals who provide specialized services at the post-conviction stages of criminal proceedings. Our goal is to provide meaningful affordable assistance to those seeking relief in the courts. As stated, we are available to assist Counsel on a technical consulting basis, or provide litigation support services to individuals directly who plan to proceed pro se in seeking redress in the courts. After direct appeal, there is technically no right to counsel. In further litigation, the defendant is left on their own to seek redress in the many avenues one can approach to challenge , or correct the imposed term.
