I found this to be a pertinent read for those that are going through rough times or are attempting to transition into a healthier way of life or wellbeing. I've used these myself and have taught others to use these therapeutic techniques as well. If you haven't tried these techniques yet, I encourage you to as sometimes everyday life can often present challenges that we need a little help to get through. This is an excerpt from a book by Katherine Pointe, the Author of the book linked below.
Love ya Sisterhood! ~Teri ❤
EMOTIONAL REGULATION PART 1 - Where there’s a will, there’s a way to address it. Sit and mope for a LITTLE while if you must, but then get up and do something about it. Maybe you know what works, maybe you don’t. Feelings are hard, really hard. You have to deal with a whole series of ifs, buts, thens, whens. The emotional experiences may be wide and diverse - sometimes better, sometimes worse. And worst of all they don’t alway take their turns, often many of them come in a single rush. I wish I could figure out my feelings, they’re not always so cooperative with my efforts, sometimes it’s absolutely impossible to reign them in. And then the rumination sets in. I ruminate and ruminate, I stress about stressing. It can feel endless. I sometimes surrender. But then I try to rewind and ask "what happened, what were my triggers?" - and I often learn how to better cope when faced with the same feelings again. A little insight can take you a long way. Try a few basic approaches and tweak them as needed.
