The Government is deeply concerned about the issues faced by our students. Upon receiving information through social media yesterday evening regarding certain student-related concerns in Siliguri, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), immediately took cognizance of the matter and expressed serious concern.
Acting swiftly on his directions, officials from the Education Department, along with executives of the SKM Students’ Wing led by the Chairman, Student Welfare Board Shri Sonam Chopel Sherpa and APS Shri Tshring Wanchuk Lepcha are on their way to Siliguri today to personally meet the students and assess the situation on the ground. The objective is to understand the facts in detail and address the issue in a timely and effective manner.
I am also in constant touch with our representatives who are heading to Siliguri and closely monitoring the developments. The Government is fully committed to uncovering the reality of the situation and will leave no stone unturned to resolve the matter in the best interest of our students.
We assure all concerned that the welfare, safety, and future of our students remain a top priority. We request everyone to have faith in the Government and its sincere efforts to ensure justice and appropriate resolution.
