👓✨ Making a Clear Difference Together ✨👓

From 5 April to 12 April 2026, Sewa International USA Central Jersey successfully organized an Eyeglasses Collection Drive, bringing the community together for a meaningful cause.

As the drive concluded, team extended heartfelt gratitude to all parents and Leads whose time, generosity, and support made this initiative a success. Their contributions will help bring clearer vision and brighter opportunities to those in need.

Together, nearly 900 eyeglasses were collected across both locations — a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through unity, compassion, and collective effort.

Small acts of kindness truly create a lasting impact. 🙏

On February 28, 2026, Sewa International – Central Jersey LEADs participated in a Winter Habitat Restoration project at the Peter Barnes III Preserve (“The Swamp”) in Metuchen. Our dedicated LEAD volunteers worked together to help restore the local ecosystem by clearing invasive English Ivy from native trees, removing Japanese honeysuckle from shrubs, and cutting excess vegetation that was harming the forested habitat. 🌿🌳

Armed with bow saws, shears, loppers, and hatchets, the team spent the day actively supporting the health of our local environment. This hands-on effort not only helped protect native plant life but also strengthened our volunteers’ understanding of the importance of habitat restoration and invasive species management.

The event also provided a wonderful opportunity for our LEADs to collaborate with organizers and fellow volunteers, build meaningful connections, and contribute to the community through environmental stewardship. 💚

Experiences like these remind us that when passionate volunteers come together with a shared purpose, even small actions can make a meaningful impact on our planet.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success!

On February 21st, 2026, the Sewa Central New Jersey chapter helped organize the Shivleela dance performance. Shivleela, a vibrant performance that tells stories from Hindu mythology, brought our community together in appreciation of art and culture. Our LEADs worked diligently behind the scenes to ensure the event ran smoothly and was well organized. They prepared thoughtful gift bags filled with food for the audience and helped set up the auditorium to create a welcoming environment. The LEADs also received positive feedback from partner organizations and gained valuable experience in seeing how a community can come together to create something beautiful. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Navrang Dance Academy and Varsha Naik for providing this wonderful opportunity for our LEADs to contribute and be part of such a meaningful cultural event.

On January 31st, Sewa Central Jersey LEADs had the honor of volunteering at the New Jersey Veterans Home, spending a meaningful day with the residents and sharing moments of joy and companionship. 🇺🇸❤️

Our LEADs began by assisting residents from their rooms and common areas to the cafeteria, where an exciting game of bingo brought smiles all around. They sat alongside the veterans, helping mark bingo cards, cheering them on, and ensuring everyone felt included and engaged in the fun.

After the game, our volunteers helped wheelchair-bound residents return safely to their rooms, making sure they were comfortable every step of the way.

It was a truly humbling experience to serve those who have served our nation, and we are grateful for the opportunity to bring a little happiness and connection into their day.

On 15th and 17th Jan, 2026, Central Jersey LEAD volunteers supported the Sai Mandir in North Brunswick by playing a key role in food service and kitchen operations during the evening pooja. Volunteers helped prepare and plate meals, managed the prashad table by organizing, replenishing, and serving prashad and holy water, and ensured a smooth flow of food distribution for devotees. They also assisted in the kitchen with washing dishes and maintaining cleanliness throughout the event. By promptly addressing spills and keeping food areas orderly, the LEADs helped create a calm, welcoming, and well-organized dining experience for the temple community.
