Nhasi ndakafamba mamaira maviri mechidimbu. Kufamba uku ndekwekurwisa cancer yechibereko, cancer yakatora sisi vangu Sarudzai.

Ana Sisi vangu, vana mai, vana tete – ndinokumbirai muiende kunotarisa (screening). Cancer yechibereko inorapika kana yawanikwa ichangotanga ‘early stage’. Usamirira kusvika zvarwadza. Endai kunachiremba, endai kukiriniki, mubvunze nezve free screening. Kare Red Cross yaiita mahara, asi zvino handichaziva. Saka bvunzai vanachiremba kuti kupi kunoitwa mahara – Cancer Association of Zimbabwe, Ministry of Health, kana outreach dziri mudunhu renyu.

Ngatitaure nezveizvi. Ngatiparadzire runyerekupe. Zvipenyu zvinoponeswa nekuziva nekukurumidza.

Frustrated. Heartbroken. Angry.

These aren't just numbers. They are our mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends.

In Zimbabwe, cervical cancer is the most common cancer in women. Every year, over 3,000 women are diagnosed, and nearly 2,000 lose their lives. That's a mortality rate of about 64%—one of the highest in the world.

Why? Because the system is failing.

· Only 1 in 5 women can access screening.
· For women living with HIV (who are 6x more likely to develop it), the risk is even more acute.

These deaths are largely preventable. The lack of awareness, access, and resources is costing lives every single day. This is why we fight. This is why our work is not optional.

SCCO exists to change these statistics. From awareness to direct support, we are building a future where no family has to endure this loss.

In loving memory of my sister, Sarudzai Joshua 🩵🩷

There are no words to truly capture the light she was, or the emptiness her absence left behind. She faced cervical cancer with a courage that humbled us all, but her fight ended far too soon.

It was the devastation of losing her that planted a seed of determination. We could not accept a world where this disease continues to take vibrant lives, often silently. From that profound loss, Sarudzai Cervical Cancer Organization was born.

Her memory is the heartbeat of everything we do. In her honor, we have set big, unwavering goals: to raise crucial awareness about prevention and early detection, to advocate for better care, and to build a future where we can directly support those walking this difficult path. We strive for a day when no other family has to endure this same heartbreak.

She is our why. Every step we take, every voice we raise, is a tribute to her—and a step toward a world where cervical cancer is no longer a threat.
