💙 This one matters… more than we sometimes realize. 💙

Most of us have been touched by mental health in some way— a friend who was struggling, a family member who seemed “off,” or maybe even moments in our own lives that felt heavier than we could explain.

And yet… we don’t always talk about it.

But the truth is—talking can save lives.

According to NAMI, over 49,000 lives were lost to su***de in 2023. That’s one person every 11 minutes.
Not strangers… someone’s child, parent, sibling, friend.

That’s why Rotary District 5300 is committed to changing the conversation.

We’re creating a space where it’s okay to learn, to ask questions, to understand the signs, and to feel more prepared to support the people around us—and ourselves.

Join us for “Talk Saves Lives: Su***de Prevention & Mental Health” A meaningful and educational conversation about how we can all play a role in awareness, prevention, and support.

You never know when the knowledge you gain could help you show up for someone who needs it most.

Or even help save a life.

✨ Let’s Talk Public Image — Together! ✨

We are so excited (and truly grateful) to launch the District 5300 Public Image Roundtable — a welcoming, collaborative space created for you, with you, and because of you. 💛

This is for everyone.
✔️ Public Image Chairs
✔️ Membership Chairs
✔️ Club leaders
✔️ Any Rotarian who wants to help their club shine

No Public Image team? No problem at all. Public Image and Membership go hand in hand — and often live in the same heart, the same passion, and the same leadership. If you care about telling Rotary’s story, growing awareness, or making your club more visible in the community, this space is for you.

Our commitment is simple and genuine:
🤝 To show up and connect
💡 To share ideas, tools, and best practices
📣 To support your efforts to amplify your club’s voice and impact

This roundtable is about support, collaboration, and shared ownership of one of Rotary’s BIG THREE. We believe you can never have too many people engaged in Public Image — and we are here to walk alongside you, wherever your club is on that journey.

🗓 January 16
⏰ 2:00 PM (Zoom)
🔁 Repeats monthly on the 3rd Friday at 2:00 PM

Come curious. Come inspired. Come exactly as you are.
Together, we grow Rotary’s story — and our impact — one connection at a time. ✨

🎾💛 End Polio Now: Pickleball for a Cause Bigger Than All of Us 💛🎾

Some causes matter.
Others change history.

Ending polio is one of those rare moments where hope is real, progress is visible, and the finish line is in sight. For the first time in human history, we are this close to eradicating a disease—and Rotary has led the way every step of the journey.

Now, it’s our turn.

We invite Southern Nevada Rotarians, families, friends, and community members to come together at Chicken N Pickle for a joyful, meaningful End Polio Now Pickleball Event—where connection, laughter, and purpose meet for one powerful goal: a polio-free world.

🎾 Play a match
👏 Cheer from the sidelines
🤝 Volunteer
💛 Or simply show up and be part of something bigger

Every rally matters.
Every smile counts.
Every contribution brings us closer to the day when no child ever suffers from polio again.

This isn’t just a fundraiser—it’s a moment in history. A moment where community becomes action, and action becomes legacy.

Rotary’s promise has always been bold. Ending polio is within reach—but only if we do it together.

✨ This is your moment to play a part.
✨ This is our moment to stand united.
✨ This is Rotary at its very best.

📄 Event details are on the flyer—join us, bring a friend, and help make an impact that will be felt for generations.

Let’s come together.
Let’s show the world who we are.

12/02/2025

December is Rotary’s Disease Prevention & Treatment Month — a time when the glow of the holidays reminds us how precious health, hope, and human connection truly are.

While many of us gather with loved ones, millions around the world face preventable illnesses that steal lives far too soon. The numbers are heartbreaking:
💔 Every 20 seconds, a child dies from a disease that could have been prevented by a simple vaccine.
💔 Half the world’s population lacks access to essential health services.
💔 Over 10 million people fall into extreme poverty each year due to medical expenses alone.

But Rotary never looks away — we lean in with compassion, innovation, and action.
🌍❤️ Thanks to Rotarians and partners across the globe:
✔ Millions now have access to clean water, reducing deadly waterborne diseases.
✔ Community health workers are trained to detect and treat illness early.
✔ Vaccination campaigns continue to protect the world’s most vulnerable children.
✔ Mental health initiatives are growing, bringing support to those suffering silently.

And you can be part of the impact this season:
🎁 Give the gift of health by supporting Rotary projects that deliver medicine, hygiene kits, and screenings.
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Volunteer or donate to local clinics, shelters, and wellness programs.
📣 Share awareness — your voice may be the spark that inspires someone else to help.
💙 Practice inclusion and empathy — prevention starts with caring for the whole person, body and mind.

As we celebrate the holidays, let’s remember that the greatest gift we can offer is the chance at a healthier, safer, and more hopeful life.

Together, as People of Action, we can turn compassion into cure, and heart into healing.

ANNOUNCING THE 2026 ETHICS ESSAY CONTEST!

I am excited—and deeply grateful—to share the official launch of our 2026 Ethics Essay Contest, a program that feels more essential now than ever.

We are living in a time when young people are navigating unprecedented pressures, uncertainty, and emotional strain. Rising rates of anxiety, depression, and teen su***de remind us daily of the urgent importance of supporting youth mental health. More than ever, students need safe, empowering tools to help them process their experiences, explore their values, and make sense of a rapidly changing world.

AThat is why this contest matters.

Writing—like journaling—offers clarity, emotional release, reflection, and healing. Through the Ethics Essay Contest, we invite students to explore ethical challenges through their own lived experience, ultimately strengthening their emotional wellness and deepening their understanding of Rotary’s Four-Way Test:
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

This contest also sparks meaningful conversations between students, parents, teachers, and mentors—conversations that build resilience, connection, compassion, and ethical awareness. Together, we are cultivating the next generation of thoughtful, courageous, empathetic young leaders.

• Club Intent Form Due: December 1, 2025
• Club Registration Fee Due ($250): December 31, 2025

Introducing our NEW District 5300 Business Plan Competition — and we couldn’t be more excited to share this with you! 🚀💼✨

For the very first time, our entire District will be opening the doors to high school visionaries, dreamers, creatives, and problem-solvers. This incredible new tradition, inspired by the success and leadership of the Rotary Club of San Marino, is now expanding district-wide — and YOU get to be part of its launch.

This is more than a competition.
It’s an opportunity to ignite potential…
To inspire young leaders…
To shape the future of business and service in our communities.

Entrepreneurial literacy has the power to change lives — and who better than us, the Rotary family, to champion the next generation? Our students will learn to think big, build boldly, and create with purpose, all while aligning their projects with Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus.

🌱 Real-world impact tied to Rotary values
🏆 Scholarships & cash prizes at every level — including $2,500 for District First Place!

Students can participate as teams or as individuals, and competitions will take place at the Club, Regional, and District levels. This is their chance to shine — and for us to lift them up.

And now, Rotary clubs… it’s YOUR turn to help make dreams happen!

🎶✨ The Dan Stover Music Competition is NOW OPEN! ✨🎶

District 5300 Rotary Family — the moment is here!

We are excited to announce the opening of the 2026 Dan Stover Memorial Music Scholarship Competition, a treasured district tradition that continues to uplift young musicians and honor the remarkable legacy of Dan Stover.

Dan Stover was more than an educator and musician — he was a compassionate mentor whose deep respect for his students changed lives. After his passing in 1987, the Rotary Club of Alhambra created a music scholarship in his honor. What began as a heartfelt local tribute soon grew into a district-wide celebration of youth talent, learning, mentorship, and the joy of music. 🎻🎼

Today, this program stands as one of the brightest examples of what Rotary can do when we come together with purpose and heart. Each year, high school students across District 5300 step onto the stage to share their artistry, compete for scholarships, and pursue their musical dreams at colleges, universities, and conservatories.

This competition is more than a performance —
it is a continuation of the harmony Dan inspired: education, community, opportunity, and service.

💛 To our Rotary Clubs:
We invite you in with gratitude and open arms!
Whether your club has participated for decades or is joining for the very first time, your involvement helps shape the future of these young artists.

Here’s the 2026 Competition Schedule:
🎵 Club Level — Complete by April 30, 2026
🎵 Regional Level — Complete by May 15, 2026
🎵 District Final — May 23, 2026 at the District Training Assembly

Every club, every chair, every volunteer makes a difference. Your support helps students take the next step in their musical journey — one filled with confidence, opportunity, and the encouragement that only Rotary can offer.
