QUESTION:
We have been silent for almost 2 years due to Covid and moving forward during Covid was unwise. What is the Atmosphere or Behavior/Relationship between schools and teachers?
Our Goal For ESL Teachers
The purpose of being represented by Filipino Goodwill ESL, NPO is so that we can the of the schools on your behalf for the following:
* Higher pay.
* No more .
* No more contracts.
* No more bonuses (I call it to reach a livable wage). No more financial penalties or of pay.
* No more Filipino run satellite offices for the schools, handling you, your pay, your classes and your students in a manner in which the home office is not aware of.
* No more " " treated and controlled as " ".
No more having to handle school/teacher disputes on your own. You will be .
* Teachers will no longer be viewed as employees. Teachers will be recognized as sole proprietors of a business that provides a service.
THE END RESULT:
● A hourly starting pay rate. The ESL Teachers we represent have indicated that they will accept no less than 200php per task completion (One Hour Teaching Time).
● Contract pay increases that reflect course difficulty, student level, teachers' performance, skill, behavior, the economy and cost of living changes.
● To have independent contractors be recognized as sole proprietor rather than your employees.
● The schools will recognize themselves as " " rather than .
● To develop with the schools a contract for the teachers that represents them fairly, and equally with the contracting school, with the best interest of both the teacher and the school in mind.
● Goodwill ESL to stand as a mediator of disputes / the delivering entity in regards to coaching, write-ups, / of contracts between schools and teachers.
● Filipino Goodwill ESL will assess, train, provide all-access mentor-ship programs and assist with the cost of advanced learning courses such as , Tefl & .
● Teachers agreed pay rate will be based on teaching capabilities or "level". The rate will be a case by case determination.
● Putting an end to monetary penalties and replacing with contractually agreed steps to correct an issue such as mandatory focused program, reduction in students and if necessary an end to the contract.
● Putting an end to bonuses and incentives that had been used to get as much work as possible from the teachers. Causing the teacher to try and earn enough between underpaid rate and bonus to live on.
