Becoming Full Circle

From the beginning, it was “What about the girls?” Everyone saw how great Boys to Men was for both the boys and the men. It was clear that they were doing something special, something that made a real difference. Well, the time finally came. The right people connected, and the planets aligned.

We started working on forming a sister organization in the spring of 2018. The goal was to create parallel programs tailored for girls. The boys started with the Rite of Passage Adventure weekend, and eventually added weekend activity groups followed by schools circles. We are going the other direction. School circles are a natural place for us to start. The barriers to getting them running are relatively low and the demand is high. Once we have a solid foundation with trained mentors leading circles for girls in a number of area schools, we will begin adding weekend activities. Eventually, we will provide a Rite of Passage experience for girls, as well.

As of Fall 2019, we have 5 circles in 3 area schools: Prescott High School, Bradshaw High in Prescott Valley and Mingus Union in Cottonwood. A year from now, we hope to be running weekend activities once a month, and designing our rites of passage experience.
