Help Keep Local Kids Warm This Winter ❤️

Coats for Kids is working to provide coats for 50 children at every elementary school in our community.

Just $20 provides one child with a warm new coat.

To purchase coats by September and distribute them in November, we’re asking our community to give now — and, if possible, become a monthly donor over the next few months. Even small monthly gifts help us reach more children in time for winter.

For 32 years, Coats for Kids has worked to make sure elementary-aged children in Doña Ana County stay warm during the cold winter months. Thanks to our amazing community, we’ve provided more than 74,000 coats to children in need since 1995!

Just $20 provides a brand-new coat for a local child. Every donation makes a difference and helps a student stay warm, comfortable, and ready to learn.

🎉 Las Cruces Coats for Kids — 31st Annual Campaign Update! 🎉
We have a few big announcements to share!
🧥 Coats have been distributed for 2025, and thanks to YOU, thousands of kids in our community will stay warm this winter. Your generosity truly makes a real difference, and we’re so grateful for your support!
❤️ Together, we supported:
• 20 kids in each of 25 LCPS elementary schools
• Doña Ana County Head Start
• LCPS Bilingual Community Outreach
• Aprendamos Cariño Family Health & Wellness Program
📘 Special grants were also awarded to:
• Gadsden Independent School District (GISD)
• Hatch Valley Public Schools
✨ And we’re not done yet. The need in our community continues to grow, with 50 kids per LCPS elementary school identified as needing a warm coat. We’re continuing to fundraise now so we can meet next year’s need.

Update from Coats for Kids 🧥❄️
We’ll be placing our coat order this week!
This year we’re providing 557 coats—that’s 20 of the kids most in need at each of the 25 LCPS elementary schools, and DACC Headstart. 💙
The overall need is closer to 2,200 elementary-aged kids in LCPS, but we’re grateful to help as many children as we can and to keep this program strong.
On top of those 557 coats, we also have 641 coats already in stock—in a variety of random sizes, so not every size is available—that we’ll be finding homes for right here in our community before the cold weather arrives. We’ll be teaming up with local nonprofit organizations that already work with kids in need to make sure these coats reach the children and families who need them most.
At this time, we are not accepting gently used coats because we do not have a storage facility to keep them year-round.
If a storage facility becomes available in Las Cruces that could house coats, please reach out—we’d be happy to share more details on what’s needed.
