THE SIGNAL RUN – 1K TRIBUTE WALK

For the generation that carried the weight in silence.

We invite our Vietnam-era veterans, veterans of all generations, families, friends, caregivers, and community members to join us for a very special part of The Signal Run — our 1K Tribute Walk.

Many answered the call when they were barely out of high school. They served, sacrificed, and carried burdens long after coming home. Some carried wounds we could see. Many carried wounds we could not.

This walk is for YOU.

Whether you walk with strength, with a cane, with a walker, or in a wheelchair — you belong here.

Bring your family. Bring your stories. Bring the names of those we carry with us.

Because this is bigger than a walk.

This is about showing our veterans — especially our Vietnam veterans — that:

You are seen.
You are valued.
You are not alone.

At The Signal Run, every distance has purpose, and we converge together. From the 32-mile core to the marathoners, runners, walkers, veterans, families, and community — we come together as one movement.

And when we arrive, we arrive together.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Join us for the 1K Tribute Walk and be part of the movement.

If you want me to carry a name, memory, or reason with me during The Signal Run, comment below.

I’ll carry the burden so you don’t have to.

Preparing for The Signal Run- You Are Not Alone is not just about miles.

Today, Erika Villanueva and I ran a steady 7 miles. I carried a 35 lb vest — but the goal is bigger:

32 miles carrying 55–60 lbs.

A 45 lb vest.
A chain with 17 links.

Why 17?

Because each link represents the 17 veterans we lose to su***de every day.

This weight means something.

It represents the burdens so many carry in silence — grief, trauma, depression, loneliness, and the feeling that nobody understands.

So I’ll carry the weight.

Not for recognition.
Not for a medal.

But to remind people: you are not traveling this road alone.

The Signal Run is not a race.

It’s a movement.

Thank you to Erika, Pete Saenz III of Bodify Functional Fitness, and everyone who has already signed up, supported, or donated to the Awareness Warriors Foundation. Donations are never required — your support alone means more than you know.

Meet us at the finish line.

This is for you.
This is for us.

Memorial Day.

Today is about remembering the men and women who gave everything in service to this country — the ones who never made it home, the ones who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Freedom comes at a cost, and for many families, today is deeply personal. So while we enjoy time with family, friends, and community, take a moment to remember those who gave their tomorrow for ours.

We remember. We honor. We don’t forget. 🇺🇸

The Signal Run- You Are Not Alone is more than miles.

It’s a movement for the people silently fighting battles nobody sees.

It’s for the veteran trying to hold it together.
The person struggling in silence. The family carrying pain they don’t talk about. The people who feel alone.

You are not alone.

Last year, what started as a personal mission to recognize the sacrifices veterans, families, and friends make alongside us — and to remember the lives lost to su***de affecting our communities — evolved into something bigger when people and the community joined the movement.

This year, that movement continues growing because people and organizations are choosing to stand behind the mission and help us reach those who may feel forgotten, isolated, or alone.

A special thank you to Ricky Garza and Zapata Roadrunners Road Racing & Management for stepping up and donating their time, and creating a finish line experience for our participants.

Thank you to the Zapata County Sheriff's Office for providing safety support and helping protect the movement as participants make their way toward Zapata together.

Thank you as well to Pete Saenz III of Bodify Functional Fitness, Zapata community leaders, and everyone continuing to stand behind this mission and help turn awareness into action.

This is how change happens.
Not through words alone —
but through people willing to show up for each other.

Walk it.
Run it.
Ruck it.

Carry a name.
Carry a reason.

Sign up today and become a ripple in the waves we are creating through this movement and foundation.

Because depression hates a moving target.

The Signal Issuance Ceremony Carry The Signal wasn’t just a gathering—it was a line being drawn.

To everyone who showed up: thank you. You didn’t just attend… you stood for something bigger than yourself.

And if you weren’t there—you missed something historic.

We brought meaning back to Together We Rise. Leadership stepped forward and reclaimed what it represents. At the same time, the community received Be The Lifeline—a message that carries real responsibility. Both matter. Both carry weight. Both demand action.

This isn’t about a cuff. This is about a movement.

A movement where city leadership, veterans, first responders, and community stand shoulder to shoulder—because depression doesn’t care who you are, where you come from, or what title you hold.

And because of that… neither do we.

We fight isolation. Together.

This is just the beginning.

If you’re ready to be part of something real—join us at The Signal Run.

Show up. Stand up. Be the lifeline.
