These buoys will devastate the river. The Feds plan to install 500+ more miles of buoys from Del Rio to Brownsville. Installation has already begun in the Laredo area.

Day 10. Two of us at the San Ygnacio bird sanctuary. We have held off dozers until today but this may be when they move in. I think of all the wildlife, including baby birds and eggs in nests, that won’t be able to escape the murder machine. Photos show looking toward the sanctuary from the river road, facing river at edge of the destruction, and looking north at the destruction that is coming for us. That silt fence in the last photo is a joke considering the buoys are planned here and will silt in the river as we’ve seen elsewhere.

We have been seeing a mama turkey and her chicks at the San Ygnacio bird sanctuary almost every day. I took this video of them on Saturday. We have been holding back the dozers from entering the sanctuary for an entire week but don’t know how much longer we can keep them out. It is still nesting season and is the worst time for this kind of destruction to occur. What will happen to all the birds and other wildlife that use this as their home?
