Mountain Shadows Equine Revival is an equine rescue creating a better future for horses through care, training, and education. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit powered entirely by volunteers and donors, we not only take in and provide care for at-risk horses, but we also educate our volunteers and our supporters and train our horses from untouchable to rideable. That way, we can adopt the horses into loving homes and break the kill-auction and feedlot cycle.

✨ Where are they now? ✨

This is an adoption follow up that we were so excited to make because look at Sedona THRIVE!!

So many of you followed Sedona’s journey for so long; from arrive at the rescue emaciated and very pregnant, beginning training and then regressing due to what was originally thought to be Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU) to the discovery that her vision problem was actually Ocular Squamous Cell Carcinoma and could be (and was) treated, all the way to being adopted and living her absolute best life!

Sedona’s adopter gave us this update - ‘Sedona is doing great! She has adjusted well to being out in pasture with a herd and is always hanging out with her friends that we trail ride with! Often, she runs around like a wild horse. We continue to grow our relationship in the arena and explore the trails up here in the mountains. She has opened up a lot since she has gotten a new mask that is like goggles. I love watching her experience life.’

And just like that the “ber” months are here! 🍂🍁

We’re not sure about you guys but we do love the changing seasons, the weather is a bit more pleasant (for a little while at least), the students are back here for school, and the holidays are just around the corner too! ✨

As we prepare for the Autumn and Winter seasons, we want to again share that we are looking for dedicated volunteers to join us here at MSER!

We have multiple shifts per week in mornings and evenings!
Come volunteer with a great group of people, get outside, spend time with our rescued horses and help provide essential care!

We can’t wait to meet you!

⭐️ Where are they now? ⭐️

We’re sure you all remember Popeye, the handsome gelding that came to us just needing a safe, soft and solid next chapter.

After a semester at Right Horse, that’s exactly what he found at StableStrides - we often get updates from the lovely Celeste Ruano about how Popeye is doing. We thought we’d share this one with you all so you can see how he’s thriving!

‘Popeye participates in our Equine-Assisted Therapies & Services. He currently is in our Mental Health, Life Coaching and Adaptative riding program. This summer, he was also part of our leadership kid’s camp and this October, he will start in another program! He is such a joy to have in our organization and is making a difference in someone’s life each day. We are truly blessed and grateful for Popeye.’

Updates like these are the best, and we have a few more upcoming in this little “where are they now?” series. Stay tuned!

🐴 It’s National Nonprofit Day 🐴

National Nonprofit Day is a chance to recognize and celebrate the important work of nonprofit organizations and their contributions to society, encouraging people to support nonprofits through donations, volunteering, or raising awareness

MSER is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit equine rescue in Laramie, WY, we are entirely volunteer-run and donor-supported.

Without the support of our local and online communities, the work we do would not be possible.

On this National Nonprofit Day, we hope that you will consider either a small donation or spreading the word about the work we do! & keep an eye out for more updates about our September Open House & Fundraiser 🍂

Our sweet June is officially available to adopt!

June is a beautiful and friendly 17-year-old mare with a gentle disposition. 💛

After settling in at the rescue, June saw both our veterinarian for an evaluation and our farrier for a hoof trim. Though we were unsurprised by the results of June’s eval, we were able to confirm during this evaluation that she does have Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Disease (DSLD); a chronic and progressive connective tissue disease in horses. It is more noticeable on her left side than the right but so far with daily MSM, pain management on an as-needed basis, and frequent hoof trims, June is comfortable and especially enjoys her time in turnout with fellow rescue buddies Saige and Adora.

Because of her age and diagnosis, June is available to adopt to a strictly companion home only.
She stands expertly for the farrier and has excellent manners on the ground. June would make a wonderful companion for a dedicated horse person who is capable and prepared to take on June’s required maintenance and prioritize her wellbeing and quality of life.

We want to give the biggest THANK YOU to every donor who chose MSER for this year. For this 7th annual WyoGives, we received $4,000 from 9 donors. ♥️

Thank you also to everyone who shared our posts, you also played an important role in spreading the word & making our first WyoGives such a success 🥹

The impact of yesterday will help us pay for hay, veterinary & farrier care, and other costs associated with running an entirely volunteer-led horse rescue! 🐴♥️
