This season, we want to celebrate YOU.

Every warm bed, hot meal, and fresh start at Nest Community Shelter happens because people in our community choose to show up. Now we want to hear why you do.

Send us a photo of yourself (one that shows who you are!) and a sentence or two about why you give to Nest. We’ll share your story as part of our How I Support series this holiday season, so your neighbors can see the people behind every new beginning.

📸 Email your photo and story to [email protected]
💬 Or send them to us in a DM

Whether you donate, volunteer, partner, or pray for our guests, you are part of this story.

Every dollar that comes to Nest La Porte has a job to do. And that job will kick into overdrive later this week when we open for the season.

Grants are a big part of how we serve our neighbors. They fund specific programs with clear goals, and we’re grateful for every grant partner who believes in this work.

Then there are the things we need to keep our doors open every day: lights, heat, staff, volunteer training, a ride for a guest, or the pair of work boots someone needs tomorrow. All of these items are needed at each of our shelters and are often not covered by grant funds.

That’s where unrestricted gifts come in. When you give without a designation, we utilize your gift where it’s needed most, right when it’s needed. It’s the most flexible support we receive, and it adapts as our neighbors’ needs change.

Grants, sponsorships, and individual gifts each play their own role. Together they build a shelter our community can count on.

Nest La Porte can’t open its doors without insurance. We can't provide a single night of relief, not one bed, not one meal, not one safe harbor without it. Insurance is an essential cost that grants, and most other funding sources, don't cover, leaving a gap often filled by the generosity of donations. Operations costs such as insurance and staffing are mission-critical, yet often the hardest to fund.
