We would like to wish our Board Member, Iona Holloway, a very happy birthday! 🎉🎈🎂

At 82 years young, she has not slowed down one bit in her advocacy efforts and is always drumming up support behind the scenes for My Dreams Foundation’s programs! Our Dreamers are always so excited to see her when she is able to attend in person events!
We pray your birthday is as special as you are! 🦋❤️

Iona Holloway, Board Member

I served as a paraprofessional , bus monitor, and truancy officer for St. John Parish public schools for over 40 years. I also served the community in many different roles, as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the St. John the Baptist Parish Housing Board, President of St. John Association of Educators, Council on Aging, and as a member of the National Education Association Board of Directors and Executive Committee. I was the first paraprofessional to be elected as the President of the St. John Association of Educators and the first paraprofessional elected to the NEA Executive Committee. I am always working to make my community a better place for everyone. Having worked in special education, making a difference in the lives of those living with a disability is dear to my heart. I also have two granddaughters with a developmental disability, so working for a more inclusive world is important to me.

🎉 September Dreamer of the Month 🎉

Meet, Angelle! 🤗

Angelle is a warm and loving Dreamer that lights up a room with incredible energy! Angelle is always so excited to be around her friends and is such an encouraging and supportive friend. 🥰

When asked about her favorite programs with My Dreams Foundation, she has two clear favorites. Angelle loves participating in Special Strong 💪 with Anytime Fitness LaPlace because she wants to stay strong and enjoys the company of the other participants. She even started going to the gym to work out on days when there is not a group class! Go Angelle! 🤩 Her other favorite program is Special Friends in partnership with Chick-fil-A LaPlace as she enjoys playing bingo and all the unique crafts that are done by the group. 😁

When not participating in our programs, Angelle loves to chill. She likes doing word search puzzles, hand stitching doll clothes together, and making and painting colorful cards and pictures for family and friends. 🎨

Angelle is a super fan of her younger brother, Gauge, and he is always so loving and supportive of his sister. 🥰 She also has a new baby cousin named Jessie that she is super excited about! 😍

Angelle’s favorite place to go in St. John Parish is PJ's Coffee. She not only loves their coffee but loves the friendly workers and welcoming people there. Angelle’s favorite holiday is Halloween 🎃, and her favorite color is purple. 💜 Angelle is a proud 2026 graduate of East St. John High School! Go Wildcats! 🖤💛

When asked if she had any special message she wanted to share with other living with a disability, Angelle quoted her own line that she is quite famous for, “YOU GOT THIS!” ❤️

As we prepare to close out the month of August, we want to take one more opportunity to celebrate our August Dreamer of the Month, Jonathan! 🥳🎉

Jonathan has been very active this summer and is always open to new experiences. His confidence to always be himself and participate in decision making is something we greatly admire! 🤗

Jonathan has a wonderful support system and his mom, Bertha, and Aunt Shirley, are so supportive of My Dreams Foundation. We love having Jonathan and his family as part of the My Dreams Family! 🥰

As our August Dreamer of the Month, Jonathan has been awarded $100 in Explorer bucks to spend on any adventure with us!
