At the Lansing Promise we imagine a community where every young person has the opportunity to dream and the investment needed to build a brighter future.

The Lansing Promise is a place-based scholarship program working to change conversations and generations one scholar at a time. The Promise ensures that every young person living and schooling within the Lansing School District boundaries has access to college and career training beyond high school through scholarship funds. Since 2012, funds from community-minded donors and socially-minded invest

ors have made the future of Lansing brighter, by giving the hope of an education and career to students who may not have otherwise set foot in a college classroom or certification program. Because of this groundswell of community support, our students are able to explore their dreams, change the trajectory of their lives, and ultimately become the leaders of the future. And we're just getting started. You can help. Join the movement and we'll raise up the next generation.

Looking for resources, support, and connections for students with disabilities and their families? Join us at the BOLD Lansing Accessibility Resource Fair! 💜✨
This free community event is designed to connect Lansing School District students with 504 Plans, IEPs, and disabilities — along with their families — to valuable local organizations, services, and support systems that help students succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Our partners at Davenport University are offering the Summer 2026 Nursing Camp through Mid-Michigan GEAR UP — an exciting opportunity for middle school students to explore the world of nursing and healthcare careers!
Students will:
✨ Gain early exposure to the nursing profession
✨ Participate in hands-on learning and clinical simulations
✨ Explore different nursing specialties and healthcare pathways
✨ Build confidence and interest in future career opportunities

🎓 Getting ready for college just got easier!
Our partners at Lansing Community College are offering College Connect — a FREE four-week summer program designed to help students build confidence and prepare for college-level classes before the fall semester begins.

College Connect provides:
📚 Skill-building workshops in math, reading, and writing
🤝 A supportive student cohort and learning community
🏫 An inside look at college life, resources, and success strategies
💻 An LCC laptop and free campus Wi-Fi
🥪 Meals and snacks
🚌 CATA bus passes

Program Details:
📅 July 7 – 31, 2026
⏰ Tuesdays through Fridays, 8:30 a.m. – noon
📍 TLC Building, Room 1204 at LCC Downtown Campus

The program is open to recent high school graduates (Classes of 2024–2026), new Michigan Reconnect participants, and GED recipients — all at no cost!
This is a great opportunity for students to strengthen their skills, connect with peers, and start their college journey with confidence. 💙

We had such a wonderful time celebrating with the 6th graders from North School on Monday, May 11th, during their Lansing Promise Pledge Ceremony! 🎉
Students proudly recited their pledge, committing to their future education goals and taking an exciting step toward college and career readiness. Each student received a certificate to serve as a reminder that their dreams for the future are possible and that the Lansing Promise is here to support them every step of the way.
We are so proud of these students for thinking about their futures already and embracing the opportunities ahead. Thank you to the staff, families, and school community at North School for helping make this special day possible! 💙💛

Students proudly recited their pledge, committing to their future education goals and taking an exciting step toward college and career readiness. Our Promise Pledge Ceremony serves as an important reminder that higher education is possible and within reach for every student.
It was inspiring to see the excitement, pride, and potential shining throughout the room as students celebrated this milestone alongside their teachers, families, and school community. 💙

Congratulations to Lansing Promise Scholar Kobe Rochester on this incredible achievement! 🎉
Kobe, a graduate of Sexton High School, recently received his certificate of completion from Lansing Community College’s Mid-Michigan Police Academy 117th Class and was officially sworn in to begin serving with the Eaton County Sheriff's Office.
We are so proud to see Kobe pursuing a career dedicated to serving and protecting his community. His journey is a powerful example of how hard work, mentorship, and postsecondary education can create meaningful opportunities for Lansing students.
Congratulations also to Instructor Noel Garcia Jr. for the lasting impact he continues to make in the lives of students and future leaders!

As we celebrate National Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to personally thank the incredible educators who dedicate themselves each day to supporting, encouraging, and inspiring our students.
Teachers are the foundation of strong communities. They help young people discover their potential, overcome challenges, and believe in futures they may not have imagined for themselves. The impact of a great teacher extends far beyond the classroom and can shape the direction of an entire life.
At Lansing Promise, we know our mission would not exist without teachers. Every student we celebrate, every scholarship accepted, and every postsecondary dream pursued is made possible in part because a teacher took the time to invest in a young person’s future.

On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of celebrating a select group of outstanding Senior Scholars at a special luncheon hosted by Coach A'Jai of at J.W. Sexton High School.

These students earned this well-deserved recognition by showing initiative and dedication toward their futures. Each scholar completed their FAFSA, officially accepted their Lansing Promise Scholarship, and secured acceptance to one of our postsecondary partners.

We are incredibly proud of these students for taking the important steps toward their educational and career goals. Their hard work, determination, and commitment to their future are inspiring, and we can’t wait to see all they accomplish next.

We had a wonderful time celebrating the 6th graders from Wexford Montessori Academy at Monday’s Lansing Promise Pledge Ceremony! 🎉
Students received certificates reminding them of the bright futures ahead through hard work and postsecondary education.
A highlight of the day was hearing from former Wexford students, Kenny Bey and Giovanni Saucedo, who are now current Michigan State University students, encouraging the young Wexford Scholars to build strong habits now and take advantage of opportunities like the Lansing Promise Scholarship.
We are so inspired by these young scholars and can’t wait to see all they accomplish in the future. 💜✨

Just like the Rebel Alliance needed teamwork, support, and a clear mission, Lansing Promise Scholars have a community behind them every step of the way—helping turn dreams of college or career training into reality. From scholarships to support services, we’re here to make sure the “force” of opportunity is strong with every student in Lansing.
