Thank you so much to Cliff Walkington and Hammond Farms Landscape Supply!! Today Cliff dropped off a whopping 20 yards of the richest and most beautiful compost, straight to our school gardens at Willow Elementary and Sheridan Road STEM. Without these kind folks and their generous donations to our program each year, we would not be able to grow healthy and delicious fruits and vegetables for our school garden-based nutrition education programs. NorthWest Initiative's Food Systems Project in Lansing, MI is currently seeking a Summer School Garden-Based Nutrition Educator. This is a full time, temporary position that could lead to a full time year round position. Please join SLCDA, National Council on Alcoholism and Lansing Latino Health Alliance for our radical health potluck this Tuesday April 21, at 6pm at St. Casimir Church! We're going to be discussing the science of addicting food so that we can more fully understand why our bodies crave these things (there's lots of intentional science that goes into it so industry can maximize profits at the expense of our health). We're also going to discuss some healthier alternatives for satisfying those cravings. This is super important especially if you have children!
