Lansdowne Chapter NSDAR

Lansdowne Chapter NSDAR Our group, all descendants of people involved in the Revolutionary War, gather monthly in our quest to promote historic preservat, education and patriotism

According to the NSDAR, the national organization was founded in 1890 with the mission of promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. These timeless, overarching principles keep the DAR strong and vitally relevant in this ever-changing world. The Lansdowne Chapter, chartered in 1923, annually presents DAR and American History awards to students in Delaware County schools. We support

our juniors (members under the age of 40) and the Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.). We also support the DAR schools and several scholarship funds. Our chapter donates the DAR magazine, "American Spirit," to local libraries. We collect postage stamps for our veterans. We are involved in our community. The Lansdowne Chapter also steps lively in the annual Memorial and Independence Day parades in Lansdowne, and we lead the Pledge of Allegiance at these events. Our chapter sponsors a public Flag Day observance. We also participate in National- and Pennsylvania State Society DAR-sponsored events at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Washington Square in Philadelphia, and Washington's Memorial Chapel and the Bell Tower in Valley Forge, PA. We also honor Constitution Week by requesting a proclamation each year for the Borough of Lansdowne. We would love to have you join us!
