Good morning Jeni's Journey friends, family, and followers,

It is with a heavy heart that I write this update to you all.

Jeni's Journey through this mortal world came to an end last night, and she has begun her new journey forever in our hearts.

We will remember her forever as the lovable, calming, kid-at-heart, swimmer, surfer girl she was. We will remember how she loved to eat ice cream, begged for food, laid on your feet if they were cold, and kissed every wound until it stopped hurting. She was the best at knowing the best time to comfort you by laying her head on your shoulder or chest or lap while also positioning herself conveniently in a way where you could reward her with a belly rub.

Her intellect will never be forgotten, it was almost as if she could speak to us in our language and acknowledge when we listened to her with a deep breath and a lick of her lips.

Even through brain surgery and subsequent infection, if she heard the words "going to the beach", she would spring into puppy-mode and be so excited to fetch the ball while jumping through the waves.

She was the best! And we already miss her very much.

December 18, 2020... It has been a while since my last update because we've been working hard preparing our new shop/office space for the snowstorm (my apologies for the delay).
Jeni is slowly improving over the last week/10 days and we have removed her harnesses and been able to give her a much-needed bath.

We are beginning to become concerned with Jeni's energy level as now that we are 3 weeks removed from surgery and 2 weeks removed from the infection, she is still very lethargic. We are taking her back to Penn Vet for a follow up where they will dive deeper into this with some blood tests to get a sense of things - cross our fingers we do not get any surprises.

Please continue to keep Jeni in your thoughts & prayers as she continues to recover. Like, React, Comment, & Share this post with your social networks to continue to raise awareness of and remain .

December 7th - Jeni is OK. That is the best way to say it...

Over the weekend, Jeni had her good moments and her bad. She is beginning to have mini Focal seizures (or partial seizures) where her body will begin to seize in a localized area. On Saturday night/early morning it was her abdomen/legs, this morning it was her face/head. While we feel helpless when they occur, it is, from what we've been told, part of her healing process - we can only hope to control the frequency and severity of each seizure.

On the other hand, there have been some great moments with Jeni this weekend. Shown in the comments of this post is "Nurse Reese" giving Jeni some love. This was Reese's first time seeing Jeni since she returned from the hospital. It is these moments which we cherish with Jeni, and these moments which have inspired us to walk this journey alongside Jeni. It will be these moments in which we continue to fight to do everything in our power to give Jeni as much life & love as possible because it is Jeni who has given us so much life & love.

We encourage you to keep Jeni in your thoughts and prayers as her recovery will have many ups and downs. We will do our best to capture the "ups" and allow the "downs" to be forgotten.

Please with your network of friends and family, and to continue the level of care for Jeni.

December 5, 2020...

Jeni sure is glad to be home! These pictures were taken last night as Lily welcomed her sister (from another mister) back to her favorite spot.

Lily has grown up so much in the past month, not only physically, but in her training as Jeni has taught her everything she knows.

So now we begin the journey for Jeni to recover, and I think you can tell by the look on her face, she is ready for what's next with her family behind her.

Thank you for all the continued support, and we have a long way to go. Please keep sharing these posts with friends and keep the positive vibes flowing.

Thank you to the nurses, Doctors, Surgeons, and the entire medical team at University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine who helped get Jeni to where she is now; home with her family.

Please consider donating to help with Jeni's care.
