Miss Zoey Rhyann Hardy was born on July 11, 2011. Zoey's nickname is "Little Slurpee" because she was born on 7-11. On July 16, 2011, Zoey was rushed to JSMC in Cardiogenic Shock, just a few short hours later she was diagnosed with something called CHD. She had 3 large VSD's and a Aortic Coarctation or CoA. Zoey was then taken by Helicopter to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I was told by th
e Attending Physician if I would have put Zoey to sleep that night and ignored my "gut" feeling, she would have passed away in her sleep. On July 20, 2011 she was operated on by the wonderful Dr. Spray, her Coarc was repaired and a PA band placed on to help her VSD's close. We also met our New Cardiologist Dr. S Peyvandi. We spent 6 weeks at CHOP and Zoey also rec'd surgery on her stomach
she was diagnosed with Pyloric Stenosis and that was repaired by Dr. and comedian Dr. Blightman. Zoey also suffered from NEC, Necrotizing Enterocolitis and spent 21 days on antibiotics. Zoey was set to have her Second Open Heart on August 23, 2012 to close her VSD's and repair her PA. During routine Blood Work, a CBC, she had Zero Neutrophils . She was then evaluated by Hematology and diagnosed with Auto Immune
Neutropenia. She cannot fight off infection, Neutrophils help fight off bacteria in our blood. Finally on Septemeber 6, 2012 , Zoey had her Second Surgery with the most amazing Dr. Spray, Open Heart Surgery. Everything went well and after 4 days we went home. Zoey developed an infection at her Chest Tube site, due to her AIN and was Re Hospitalized 2 weeks later. My goal of this Webiste is to help spread Awareness of CHD,
Pulse Ox testing and signs of CHD. We also would like to spread Awareness of AIN, which is very rare. Zoey is our Heart Warrior, our love and one true inspiration. We Hope that no other family has to endure what Zoey has had to suffer due to a late diagnosis. Awareness is Key.
