Partners for Environmental Stewardship is thrilled to celebrate a decade of Water Week! 💧

We’re excited to host two special events:
🌲 Sunnyside Guided Hike | June 11 at 6 pm
(Currently sold out. If your plans change, please let us know so we can open spots to others!)

🧤 Sunnyside Clean Up | June 13, 9 am – 12 pm
Make a difference during Water Week by joining our clean-up! The day kicks off with the Rally for the River at 9 am at Lancaster County Central Park (Pavilion 1), followed by clean-up efforts at Sunnyside.

What is Water Week? Lancaster Water Week seeks to educate and empower our community to care for the 1,400 miles of streams and rivers in Lancaster County. Big smiles and muddy boots! 🌱 Partners for Environmental Stewardship recently hosted our first field trip on the Sunnyside Peninsula, where Hazel I. Jackson Middle School’s 8th-graders explored, learned, and connected with nature right in their neighborhood.

Huge shoutout to Lancaster Conservancy, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Stroud Water Research Center, and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay for leading hands-on learning stations about water quality, meadows, and forests!

Well before we open the doors of the future environmental center on Sunnyside, we’re working to get our neighbors experiencing nature in new, meaningful ways.

We took a quiet winter walk recently and were reminded that this landscape is beautiful in every season — even in stillness.

As the thaw begins, we’re looking ahead to longer days, birdsong, and welcoming you back to Sunnyside for our next round of Guided Hike Series walks. 🥾🌎

Recently we had the opportunity to knock on doors on Sunnyside and talk with neighbors about the Environmental Center and Nature Preserve coming to the peninsula — and to invite them to our upcoming Open House on October 22 at Sunnyside Mennonite Church! 🌿

A big thank-you to Nathan Grieser, Interim Executive Director of RegenAll and Pastor at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, for canvassing the neighborhood with us and helping to make introductions.
