While April has come and gone, our gratitude for the support shown during Sarcoidosis Awareness Month remains as strong as ever.

Throughout the month, we saw our communities come together in incredible ways. Businesses displayed purple light bulbs and signs, served purple drinks, wore purple hair, shared our mission, and helped spark conversations about sarcoidosis. Residents lit their homes in purple, displayed awareness signs, made personal donations, attended events, and helped spread awareness throughout their communities. We were also honored to see the Grant County Courthouse illuminated in purple in recognition of Sarcoidosis Awareness Month.

We would like to extend a special thank you to American Family Insurance, the Boscobel Woman's Club, and the Boscobel FFA for their generous donations and support of our mission.

Thank you to our healthcare partners, Grant Regional Health Center and Emplify Health by Gundersen, for helping us raise awareness throughout our communities. We are grateful to the businesses, organizations, volunteers, sponsors, donors, and community members who participated in our Go Purple campaign and Casino Night fundraiser.

We know we may not capture every act of kindness, but please know that every donation, every purple light, every shared post, every awareness display, and every conversation mattered. Together, we raised awareness, honored those affected by sarcoidosis, and continued building a stronger support network for patients and families across Wisconsin.

Because of your support, we are able to continue honoring Mark's legacy through education, awareness, patient support, scholarships, and advocacy across Wisconsin.

While April may be behind us, our mission continues every day.

Thank you for helping us grow hope across Wisconsin and reminding those affected by sarcoidosis that they are not alone.

April showed us just how powerful communities can be. 💜

From the first purple light to the last conversation sparked, Sarcoidosis Awareness Month was filled with moments that mattered. We saw businesses, homes, and landmarks across our communities shine purple.

We heard stories—some shared for the first time—and we stood together to bring awareness to a disease that is so often misunderstood.

Casino Night was more than an event—it was a night to remember Mark, to laugh, to gather, and to turn support into impact. Through every ticket, every sponsor, every donation, and every conversation… you helped push our mission forward.
Because of you, we are able to:

💜 Support research right here in Wisconsin
💜 Launch our Environmental Exposure & Awareness Survey
💜 Continue growing our assistance and scholarship programs
💜 Reach more people who are living with sarcoidosis—many in silence

This month reminded us that awareness doesn’t happen alone.

Together, we are making something bigger than all of us.

Thank you for shining your purple, sharing your stories, and standing with us.

Veteran mortality from sarcoidosis has been on the rise.

Sarcoidosis is a recognized as a presumed disability under the PACT Act. The risk to veterans of acquiring sarcoidosis is not limited to those who have had exposure to burn pits, but also includes those with exposure to mold, dust, jet fuel, and the foam put down on aircraft carriers.

📢 FSR Action Alert: Advocate for Sarcoidosis Research Funding - Ask for Sarcoidosis to be included in the PRMRP under the Defense Budget FY27 📢

There are approximately 25,000 veterans are impacted by sarcoidosis. Veterans have 2x the annual prevalence of non-veterans. Further, per a recent publication, veteran mortality from sarcoidosis has been on the rise.

To continue this momentum, we encourage everyone in the community to reach out to your U.S. representatives and ask them to support including sarcoidosis to the PRMRP funding. The support will be critical in helping us to assess and build better strategies to mitigate the risks to future military personnel. What we learn though this research will help ALL with sarcoidosis.

Did you know?

Reggie White—one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history—passed away at just 43 years old from a cardiac arrhythmia.

An autopsy later revealed that he had both cardiac and pulmonary sarcoidosis, with granulomas found in his heart and lungs.

Prior to his passing, Reggie had been experiencing symptoms like sleep apnea and persistent coughing—signs that, at the time, did not yet have clear answers.

Sarcoidosis is often called a “silent” or misunderstood disease because it can affect multiple organs and mimic other conditions—making it difficult to diagnose until it’s too late.

💜 If something doesn’t feel right—keep pushing for answers.
💜 And if you’re living with it, know you’re not alone.
