It’s that time of the… week? Day? Month?

Definitely that time of day! The pups are starting to run out of the amazing haul of food that was donated!

Bellies still need fuel so if anyone has the ability, food is our most important need for ALL the pups right now!

With all that Sherman needs done, we’ve had to move his appointment to Friday to make it more feasible for all the testing, and to continue to raise funds.

We can only do what we can pay for, which means if we don’t raise enough, we will have to cut some tests out. Unfortunately, money is a necessity in rescue.

We are currently at $230 out of the needed $955.

Today is all about one of our rescue pups who is struggling!

So far we have raised $160 out of the needed $955 minimum… and his appointment is on Wednesday.

Sherman has been a very good boy since he left the shelter, playful, dog friendly, relaxed, and content.

However his personality has undergone a very marked change and the concern is that it may be medical. He does have a bump on his rear, that could be a lipoma, but it could also be something worse. We won’t know until the vet checks him out!

Did you know? Fleas and ticks carry and transmit infectious and sometimes life threatening diseases!

It only takes one.

We use prevents monthly to make sure the pups are safe and cared for, even in the winter, because ticks are active year round!

We use the Amazon product that is identical to Frontline because it’s affordable for a large amount of pups… but we definitely need help!

Could you send one box? One box treats SIX dogs! That’s a lot of help!

Having Sherman is a joy, and a privilege.

Unfortunately, Sherman is not so joyful these days.

In fact he’s become downright crotchety.

The number one reason for a change in behavior is medical. Normally I would think a lump like this is a lipoma, quick vet visit, and all good!

However, it’s not just my job to observe the physical, but also take care of the mental/emotional needs of each dog. This lump, and his changed behavior has me asking what is hurting a Sherman.

I don’t know.

So it is off to the vet to find out.

Sherman has an appointment next Wednesday at and he has to (at a minimum) get the following checked:

Bloodwork/UA
X-rays
Biopsy of lump

Because we don’t know what he will need in addition, I got the lowest pricing of each to find out what the cost COULD be (knowing it will likely be more).

Bloodwork and UA: $275

X-rays: survey is $295 (2-3)
each additional $160

Biopsy: $300+

Meds (if needed): $50-90

Exam: $88

Assuming we only need the prices as quoted, with no meds, lowest biopsy, and nothing additional needed, the minimum is $958.

This is directly why we are closed to intake.

Too many med bills, never enough money, and the reason we cannot take any pups in until we have a med fund built back up.
