The Rangers’ grit and desire led to a 6-5 win last night against a team from Lutheran West that never quit. A total team effort for our first win of the season. So many girls contributed to the victory. Pip Speck (LHS Class of 2028) scored her first varsity goal on a clever little move to beat a defender before beating the Goalkeeper. Norah McKay (‘30) scored on a hard driven ball from 20 yards away into the top corner of the goal to tie the game at 5 with less than 14 minutes remaining. And Teagan Sefchick (‘29) scored 4, including the game winner. Teagan is the 8th player in school history to score at least 4 goals in a game and the first since Halle Krebs (‘17) did it 10 years ago in 2016. And she is just the second sophomore to achieve the feat, joining Nicole Greenfield (‘00) who did it in 1997.

The Rangers held on for the win by blanking a determined Lutheran West during the last 10 minutes after the Rangers took a 6-5 lead. Great effort from GK Josie Willis (‘28), defenders Anna Herb (‘27), Elisa Nomina (‘30), Brooklyn Hoover (‘30), Fallon Popovich (‘27), Riley Robertson (‘27) and midfielders Speck (‘28), Stella Sattler (‘29), Ainsley Tracey (‘30), Maddy Klein (‘30), Lucy Jablonski (‘27), and Gabby Markiewicz (‘28) to preserve the win.

We appreciate your support. All Team Funds raised will go to support high school and youth soccer players in Lakewood. Team Funds are used for equipment and gear used to enhance our soccer program. Next summer, these funds will be used to pay for unique experience at a team summer soccer camp hosted by college soccer coaches and players.
