Back to School Project, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, whose goal is to provide school supplies to children in Jamaica. The Back To School Project began in 2011 in which 180 children were provided backpacks filled with crayons, glue, notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners and if needed, a calculator and geometry sets. By 2012, the number of children benefiting from the Back to School Project increased to 305. As of summer 2019, over 2400 packages of supplies have been distributed. This organization’s mission is to encourage and offer assistance to parents of children pre-school age through 12th grade by replenishing necessary school supplies on an annual basis (i.e. backpacks, books, pencils, pens, crayons, calculators, geometry sets). Our way in fulfilling this mission has been through generous monetary and supply donations. All supply donations go directly to the charity recipients and monetary donations are utilized to purchase additional school supplies as well as off-set the cost of shipping and customs fees. Donations are collected year-round. “When you walk through the doorway of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you.
