๐โ ๏ธ Battery Safety Starts at Home โ ๏ธ๐
From cell phones and tablets to power tools, e-bikes, and lawn equipment, rechargeable batteries are a part of everyday life. While they are generally safe, damaged batteries or improper charging practices can lead to overheating, smoke, and even devastating structure fires.
Help keep your family safe by following these simple tips:
โ
Use only manufacturer-approved batteries and chargers.
โ
Never charge batteries on beds, couches, or other combustible surfaces.
โ
Avoid overcharging devices; unplug them when fully charged.
โ
Keep batteries away from extreme heat and direct sunlight.
โ
Replace damaged, swollen, or overheating batteries immediately.
โ
Do not block vents or cover charging devices while in use.
โ
Store batteries in a cool, dry location.
โ
If a battery begins smoking, sparking, or emitting an unusual odor, move away and call 911.
Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices we rely on every day, but they deserve respect and proper care. A few simple precautions can help prevent a small problem from becoming a major emergency.
Stay charged. Stay aware. Stay safe. ๐๐
