Wrestling is a community — and we believe in investing in every part of it.

Lakeville Youth Wrestling recently donated $7,000 each to Lakeville North Wrestling and Lakeville South Cougars Wrestling. Our commitment to our athletes doesn’t end when they age out — it follows them. When the high school programs are strong, our entire wrestling community is stronger.

This is what your support of LYWA makes possible. Every registration, every fundraiser, every dollar given doesn’t just serve our youth program — it ripples out across Lakeville wrestling as a whole. None of it happens without the families, volunteers, and supporters who make this organization what it is.

The 2026 Minnesota Youth State Wrestling Tournament is officially in the books, and the LYWA family showed up — and showed OUT — at RCTC in Rochester. From our youngest Pee-Wees to our Cadets, Lakeville wrestlers competed with grit, heart, and the kind of toughness this program is built on.

Here's how our crew finished:

🥇 STATE CHAMPIONS
Four Laker wrestlers climbed to the top of the podium this weekend.
Charlotte Maus — Girls 10U, 80 lbs
Kinley Pederson — Girls 12U, 75 lbs
Beau Krause — Bantam 8U
Jackson Ganfield — Schoolboy 14U, 120 lbs

🥈 2nd PLACE
Emma Schulkers — Girls 14U, 90 lbs
Brevig Hartwig — Intermediate 10U, 93 lbs

One match away from gold. These two left everything on the mat.

🩸THE BLOOD ROUND
This one deserves its own mention. The Blood Round is brutal — one loss and your shot at placing is gone. These three LYWA wrestlers battled their way there and fought hard when it counted most. So close. We see you:

Jacob Skapyak — Novice 12U, 64 lbs

🦅 TOP 20 IN MINNESOTA — EVERY SINGLE ONE

Don't let the scoreboard fool you — qualifying for the state tournament means you are one of the best youth wrestlers in the entire state of Minnesota. Every kid on this list earned their spot. We are proud of every one of them:

Aryanna Schulkers, Sadie Lorenz, Josephine Ganfield, Rylee Schulkers, Moby Holm, Crew Capra, Carson Harder, Nathan Baker, Nolan Harder, Reef Mitchell, Harrison Sather, Tanner Klimpke, Everett Howland, Arlen Maas, Rhett Reynolds, Thor Gulbrandson, Ezra Howland, and Bianca Cook (competing in both Girls 14U AND Schoolboy 14U — amazing).

Also SHOUTOUT to Cael Richards, for laying it on the line for the team, and unfortunately getting injured in our second round dual versus STMA. Losing out, not only on the remainder of the duals, but also losing out on his very real chance to place at the State Tournament. Cael worked so hard this year, and to see it come to an end the way it did was disappointing, but as usual Cael had a great attitude and cheered on his teammates the rest of the way!

5-1, this crew battled tough all day long, so proud of their effort. Only loss was to STMA, and we eventually won the Silver bracket!

Not every day you get to chuck a dodgeball at your kid in front of witnesses. 😄 The 2026 LYWA Parents vs. Kids Dodgeball Game did not disappoint — parents took the W, but we’re paying for it. Sore arms, creaky knees, and zero regrets. Worth every bit of it. 🏆

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK!

Jack was our wrestler of the week, last week. Not only is he a really talented wrestler, but he’s a fierce competitor and a vital part of our State Dual Team. He’s always up for a scrap, and does a great job putting coaching into practice. Great job Jack!
