What if the way we change our communities starts with embracing our own vulnerability?

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had the chance to return to my roots—speaking with college students. And this is what we’ve been talking about: God doesn’t call us to engage vulnerable people from a place of strength or distance. He calls us to step in as vulnerable people ourselves—because He first stepped toward us.

There’s something powerful that happens when people realize they don’t have to wait to be more qualified, more experienced, or more “together.” They can actually do something right now to push back against the brokenness they see around them.

This is the invitation: God uses ordinary, vulnerable people—people like you and me—to love those most at risk in our communities.

If you’re interested in bringing this conversation to your campus, church, or group, I’d love to connect. Send me a message and let’s talk.

What if changing your community didn’t require being a hero—just being a neighbor?

Recently, I had the opportunity to speak at the North Central Baptist Association in Gainesville, Florida. Church leaders from across the region gathered to learn more about their most vulnerable neighbors—and how they can step in to care in meaningful, practical ways.

We talked about this simple truth: God isn’t calling us to be extraordinary heroes. He’s calling ordinary people to show up, love their neighbors, and make a real impact right where they are.

Afterward, we had a powerful panel discussion with local community leaders, digging into what it actually looks like to serve well and wisely in our own cities.

If you’d like to bring this kind of conversation to your church or association, I’d love to connect. Send me a message and let’s talk.

Human Trafficking affects as many as 50 million people worldwide. Whether it is for s*x, labor, domestic servitude, or organ trafficking, human trafficking is always the exploitation of vulnerability for commercial gain.

Are you a fixer?

Trying to fix yourself.
Fix others.
Fix every broken thing.

What if healing doesn’t come from fixing—but from presence, compassion, and love?

You are not loved for who you should be.

You are loved as you are.

Full stop.

The reminds us that you are loved now, even in the mess. Because it’s not you, who saves you.

The most spiritual thing you might do today?

Pay attention.
Be present.
Listen—to God and to yourself.

What if growth isn’t about fixing yourself…
but coming home to who you already are?

This New Year’s Eve on MercyCast, I sat down with Will Acuff to talk about sanctification—not as self-improvement, but as a return to your true self as God’s Beloved.

If you’re tired of striving, this episode is for you.
