I have reviewed the Survey results.. We have MANY families that have students at LVES & a Brookwood school!! I will be contacting some over the next week to obtain additional information for the presentation for BOE & legislators.
I came across this information last week… it infuriated me!

It is the 2019-2020 Alabama Dept of Education Capital Plan 5 year Report. The Report list projects to be completed over the next few years for all Alabama school systems.

Tuscaloosa County is supposed to build TWO new schools by 2024, this does not include Northport Intermediate that recently opened.

If I counted correctly, only SIX Tuscaloosa County schools were not listed w/ a project(s)!FOUR were Elementary Schools & TWO were Middle Schools… which of course Lake View was 1 of the 6 that did not have a project planned 🤬🤬🤬

THANK YOU to everyone who completed the survey!!! I will be reviewing the answers over the next week to include in a presentation to Tuscaloosa County BOE & state legislators.

Please review the following information, please let TCBOE know this is not okay with Lake View area residents!!!

Per Tuscaloosa County BOE meeting minutes

- Over $1,700,000 was spent on Taylorville Primary Activity Building in June 2021

-Over $1,400,000 was spent on Tuscaloosa County HS Football/Soccer Field Turf Improvements .. in addition to the $ 396,000 purchase of synthetic turf in June 2021

- Over $2,300,000 was spent on the Access Road to Northport Intermediate School in June 2021

- Over $ 1,300,000 was spent on classroom additions and renovations at Vance Elementary in August & September 2021

- Over $270,000 for Development of Holt HS Athletic Facilities in September 2021

- In September, contracts for maintenance & construction projects for ALL 3 Brookwood Schools & Vance Elementary were approved

- In September, contracts for maintenance & construction projects for Englewood Elementary, Taylorville Primary, Hillcrest Middle, & Hillcrest HS were approved

All of these contract approvals for area schools, and enormous amounts of money being spent on other TCSS schools….. but LVES was denied funding for a 5th grade teacher !!!! And we have been told there is no money and we must have patience for a Middle School!

Parents must make it known we are not ok with this!!!

This is an opportunity for your voice to be heard by TCSS, Board of Education, & Alabama legislators.
