Snohomish County Native Plant Program

Snohomish County Native Plant Program Comprises the efforts of Snohomish County Surface Water Management, The Washington Conservation Corps & community volunteers to improve natural habitats.

The Snohomish County Native Plant Program is sponsored by Snohomish County's Surface Water Management division, and works in cooperation with the Washington Conservation Corps and community volunteers. Our mission is to use native plants to help preserve and enhance healthy ecosystem function and a water resource legacy for future generations. At our native plant nursery, located in Lake Stevens,

we produce and hold native plants. These plants are installed on project sites designed to decrease erosion and flood damage, improve water quality, and enhance fish and wildlife habitat. We also work to control invasive plants and conduct ongoing vegetation monitoring at these restoration sites. We host several volunteer work parties at our native plant nursery throughout the year. Nursery work can include potting plants, weeding, harvesting live stakes, organizing plant beds, or other odd jobs. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn more about native plants and ecological restoration while enjoying the therapeutic pleasure of plants. If you are interested in volunteering with the Native Plant Program, please contact Kate Terpstra at [email protected].
