Arcadia Police Explorers Post 1018

The Police Explorer Program encourages a positive attitude toward law enforcement for members of our community who range from 14-20 years of age.

Our Arcadia Police Explorers have officially wrapped up the 2026 Florida Association of Police Explorers State Competition in Tampa, Florida!

Competing alongside 36 other Explorer posts from across the state, this incredible group of young ladies represented our department with professionalism, determination, and teamwork. We are especially proud that they nearly doubled their overall score from last year’s competition—a true testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment they have shown throughout the year.

Watching their confidence and abilities grow has been one of the greatest rewards for their advisors. They continue to build the skills, leadership, teamwork, and character that will serve them well, no matter which career path they choose.

We also made sure to squeeze in a fun day during the trip. The Explorers got to choose how they wanted to spend the day, and the advisors were simply along for the ride. It was a great opportunity to relax, make memories, and enjoy time together outside of the competition.

Our Arcadia Police Explorers are in attendance at the 2026 Florida Association of Police Explorers State Competition in Tampa!

This morning, a few of our Explorers competed in the physical fitness portion of the competition and each improved their previous times by nearly a minute. Their determination, grit, and commitment to excellence continue to make us proud.

We are just beginning Day 2 of competition, and these young ladies have already demonstrated (aside from the nervousness 😅) the hard work and dedication they have put in throughout the year.

Please join us in wishing our Arcadia Police Explorers the best of luck as they continue competing today. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and look forward to cheering them on throughout the remainder of the competition!

Our Police Explorers wrapped up their final training sessions this past week, concluding with active shooter response led by Captain Joens, and crime scene investigations. They are now preparing for the State Competition, which begins later this week.

The advisors are incredibly proud of this group of young ladies who continue to show up each week, despite their increasingly busy schedules as young adults, eager to learn and challenge themselves. Their dedication, commitment, and willingness to grow have been impressive to watch, and we look forward to seeing them represent our agency at the State Competition.

🎓 Congratulations to our very own Police Explorer, Genesis Clifton, on her graduation as a member of the Class of 2026!

City Marshal Quinn Jones and Officer Allred had the opportunity to share a quick photo with Genesis as she celebrates this exciting milestone. We are incredibly proud of her hard work, dedication, and accomplishments throughout her high school journey.

Genesis has been a positive representative of our Explorer Program, and we look forward to watching her continue to grow and excel in all of her future endeavors. Congratulations, Genesis — your Arcadia Police Department family is cheering you on every step of the way! 👏🚔💙

Our explorers have been gearing up for our upcoming state competition next month. Josh McHale from North Port Fire Rescue joined us and refreshed our explorers on CPR and first aid training. We would also like to thank North Port Fire Rescue for allowing McHale to come spend time with our explorers.

Josh also brought along his young daughter, Allie, who enjoyed being part of the training and spending time with our explorers. Josh introduced some new training equipment that will soon be implemented within his own agency, giving our explorers the opportunity to work with some of the latest tools and techniques.

We are thankful to have had both Josh and Allie with us and appreciate the time, knowledge, and support they shared with our program as we continue preparing our future leaders.

Last night, Marshal Jones, Sgt. Rios, Officer Allred, and the Arcadia Police Explorer Post 1018 attended the 2026 DeSoto County High School CTE Award Ceremony. We were honored to stand alongside our Police Explorer, Genesis Clifton, as she was recognized for successfully completing both the 911 Dispatch 🚔 Program and the Cosmetology Program.

We are proud to have been part of such an exciting and memorable moment shared with Genesis and her family. Her accomplishments reflect the hard work, determination, and positive attitude she brings not only to her education, but also to our Explorer Program each day.

Genesis continues to be a great role model within our Explorers, and we are incredibly proud of all she has achieved. We look forward to seeing all the amazing things her future holds.

Arcadia Police Explorer Post 1018 recently attended a Delegates Meeting hosted by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

During the event, our Explorers participated in a variety of hands-on and classroom-based training scenarios, including:
• AI lecture
• Residential burglary (“porch pirate”)
• Injunction violation
• Discretionary shooting
• Teen driver challenge
• Active shooter simulator
• Felony stop

Our young ladies demonstrated tremendous growth in decision-making, teamwork, and leadership throughout the training. They represented the Arcadia Police Department with professionalism, and we couldn’t be more proud of them.

Marshal Jones also extends his appreciation to our Explorer Advisors for their continued dedication, mentorship, and hands-on guidance during training. Their commitment plays a vital role in shaping these young individuals into future leaders and positive contributors to our community.

A big thank you to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for hosting and putting together an outstanding training experience!

We would also like to thank DeSoto Ford for providing us with a comfortable and spacious vehicle for our trip to delegates. DeSoto Ford - we appreciate you!

Arcadia Police Explorer Post 1018 has been putting in the work 💪🏼

Over the last few weeks, our Explorers have been sharpening their traffic stop skills and focusing on hands-on training to better prepare themselves for the future. But it’s not just about training — it’s about service.

Our Explorers have stayed active in the community by volunteering at local events, including the s***t shoot hosted by the DeSoto County Chamber of Commerce and assisting at the Arcadia Rodeo this past weekend.

Training hard. Serving proudly. Staying involved.

Post 1018 continues to show what it means to represent Arcadia with professionalism, dedication, and heart. 👏🏼

On January 17, 2026, the Arcadia Police Explorers attended a delegates meeting hosted by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. Our explorers participated in several seminars covering topics such as K-9 alerts for materials used in bomb-making—where Explorer B. Penate gained hands-on experience—animal cruelty investigations, first aid, and bomb squad operations.

The explorers also received hands-on training in responding to a missing person complaint. Our post was commended for effectively utilizing dispatch, as we were the first group to do so during the event. The day concluded with a building-clearing scenario, where our explorers once again received positive feedback from the instructors.

Thank you Fort Lauderdale Police Department and their Police Explorer Post #1160 for hosting such an outstanding training event!
