Ian was feeling a bit spunky after lunch today!

Even though he's doing great, he does still have some regurgitation here and there. He has added some paper towels and cleaning supplies to the Wishlist so we can keep things squeaky clean.

And the other pups have added more food to the list. The green bags are always needed as we go through them quickly, but everything on the list is regularly used, needed, and very much appreciated!

Ian headed in to the vet today to get a weight on their scale. And guess what?! He has gained even more!

Ian weighed in at 20 pounds even today! He has gained 3.4 pounds in five days. 🤗 That has far surpassed the progress we were hoping for. He might just have to be cut back to three meals a day! Ian is filling in nicely and his hips and ribs are already significantly less prominent.

Ian is also enjoying a coconut oil facial a couple times a day, and he is LOVING every moment of them. The oil is working its magic and his crusties are really starting to fall off. Keep up the amazing work, baby boy!

Moose came into our lives nearly 11 years ago. In fact, this Friday would be his 11 year gotcha-versary. An unexpected rescue that would ultimately lead to the beginning of R&R Pet Sanctuary. Moose taught us a lot about figuring out what a dog, as an individual, needs in order to be happy, healthy, and safe. How to meet their needs instead of bending them to meet societal ideals.

Moose was diagnosed with a mass in his lung a few months ago. We have kept him comfortable and happy and he was showing no signs of distress. A bit of coughing here and there, but still excited to go outside, eat, drink, and just be a dog. This morning, that changed very quickly and he told us it was time to go to the Rainbow Bridge.

Rest in Paradise, Poo Butt. We will miss you, sweet boy. 🌈💔

It was weigh in day today and we have some big news!

Ian has gained nearly three pounds! Granted, there may be a bit of a discrepancy between the two different scales that were used, so we'll get a new weight tomorrow on the scale at the vet's office. Regardless, we can definitely tell there's an increase. Ian has also had a lot more energy today, and the crusties are starting to fall off his face. Way to go, Ian!

Potato also has some great news: still losing weight! Way to go, Potato!

It was bath and nail day for some of the Littles. 🫧🛁🧼

Daisy, Mouse, Peach, and Jack all enjoyed (some more than others) a warm soak and pawdicure. Peach also got a bit of a trim. Now they're ready for a good brush and they will be feeling fabulous!

Pupdate from Ian's vet visit yesterday:

Ian weighed in at 16.6 pounds. He's just a little peanut. Getting more meat on his bones is definitely a priority right now. We've already increased him to four meals per day, so we should be seeing some positive gains quickly. The challenge is just making sure the food stays down.

Labwork was pretty good with just a couple numbers slightly out of range. They were nothing to be concerned with. Ian does have a grade three heart murmur, but it is possible that the murmur will correct itself as Ian gets through the puppy stage. Time will tell.

A skin scrape revealed a bacterial infection, so Ian received an antibiotic injection that should clear the infection quickly.

Ian has been a bit chuffy so xrays were done just to be safe. His lungs are completely clear! Yay Ian! The chuffing is probably just mucus in his esophagus that he's trying to clear.

The next step for Ian will be taking biopsies of skin and muscle to be sent off for review by a dermatopathologist. This will hopefully tell us the underlying cause of his skin issues. We are expecting the results to be dermatomyositis which would explain the skin, megaesophagus, weak limbs, and flat feet, but in all reality it could be a number of things. We need to get Ian's weight and energy up a bit before he will be cleared for the biopsy procedure.

Overall, Ian's exam went very well and he received a whole lot of love while he was there!

Our intake has been closed because our medical expenses have been piling up quicker than we can get them all paid, but we couldn't say no to Ian. He's a super special boy that absolutely deserves a solid chance at a happy life.

Today's $5 Friday is not only for Ian's current and upcoming medical, but also to get caught up on the backlog. Can you spare $5 for the pups?

Ian had a BIG day!

It started out rough. First, he scraped off a wee bit of freshly healed skin from the tip of his nose. Then, he ate his breakfast too fast and lost it. But, round two went WAY smoother and all the food stayed down. We'll get his rhythm down pat.

Then it was off to the vet, where he stole so many hearts that it could be a felony. He mesmerized them all with his smile, his stretchies, and then his new red Bobo dog. Hook, line, and sinker... this kid knows what he's doing, and he's doing it well.

After robbing the vet office clean off all hearts, he came back to the Sanctuary and stole yet another heart: Riot's. It looks like these two are going to be BFFs.

As if all of that wasn't enough, Ian became an official legal resident of Lake Havasu City today!

More updates on the vet visit tomorrow. For now, we are all ready for bed.

P.S. Lucky and Lucy sent a message today. ❤️
