Congratulations to the January 2026 recipient at Oro Grande Classical Academy Tessa Chiesa !

The Sherry Dailey Golden Apple Award first began in 2012 and is awarded monthly during the school year to an exceptional certified teacher who demonstrates selfless dedication and excellence in their work. Each award recipient is chosen by the peers of their school.

The K-12 Foundation is joined by community members who share in the celebration. Alex and Cinda Ross State Farm Insurance, Shugrue’s Family of Restaurants, Anderson Auto Group, Small Cakes, College Street Brewery, Human Bean, Steven’s Tacos, Destination Havasu, Bliss Beauty Bar and Concord General Contracting. Each of these businesses provide gifts to the recipient as well as receiving a plaque from the K-12 Foundation in recognition of their achievement.

Here is what Tessa's peers said:

I am voting for Tessa because she is an exceptional physical education teacher who plays a vital role in our school community far beyond the gymnasium. While she promotes health, teamwork, and confidence through her PE classes, her impact reaches well outside that space.

Tessa consistently supports our students in every setting, always stepping in where help is needed and ensuring they feel encouraged and cared for. She selflessly covers duties, willingly takes on additional responsibilities, and never hesitates to help out when our staff needs support. Her positive attitude, reliability, and genuine commitment to our students make a noticeable difference every day.

Tessa’s dedication and excellence truly embody the spirit of this award, and she is more than deserving of this recognition.

Tessa is always putting others before herself. She makes PE engaging and really cares about student's well-being inside and outside of the classroom. Tessa is a kind coworker and she supports classroom teachers.

Tessa consistently maintains a positive attitude at school toward both students and staff. She willingly goes out of her way to cover classes when another specialist is absent, ensuring that students continue to receive all of their scheduled specials for the day. In addition, she is especially attentive to students who need extra support, offering help to those who are struggling or need assistance transitioning into the classroom. Her dedication and supportive nature make a meaningful difference in our school.

Tessa is always going above and beyond for the students and staff. She is always one of the first people to jump in and help around campus. She is amazing with the students. She has a high expectation for students and holds them to it. She is very well respected among staff and students. Students love her and I have never seen kids so excited to go to PE!

Congratulations Tessa Chiesa !

Today we have the honor to recognize the November 2025 recipient of the K-12 Foundation Sherry Dailey Golden Apple Award at Lake Havasu High School.

Congratulations AL ANTONIO !! 🎉

Al was chosen by his peers to be recognized and here are some of the comments they wrote:

Al is an incredible teacher and advisor at Lake Havasu High School. He is involved in Key Club and the Educational tour group. He goes above and beyond at these duties. The Key Club has grown tremendously and Al make sure they understand the value of Community Service. Last year he had his students pen pal with students from the Philippines, to understand each others culture. It is very evident that Al cares about his students, our staff and administration at LHHS.

I want to recommend Al for this award in recognition of his outstanding dedication as both a teacher and a club leader. Al consistently goes above and beyond to inspire his students, creating a classroom environment that is engaging, supportive, and full of enthusiasm for learning. As a club leader, Al demonstrates exceptional leadership and creativity. He encourages every member to participate, share ideas, and develop new skills, fostering a true sense of community and teamwork. His commitment to helping students grow (both academically and personally) has had a lasting impact on everyone he works with!!!

Al is one of the friendliest people on campus. Every time I see him, he always has a smile and warm greeting. I know that he cares deeply about being an effective educator. He works NON-STOP to make LHHS a better place for students and staff. He is involved in multiple clubs, volunteers for just about everything, and is a phenomenal teacher on top of all that. Al can be seen at all school functions and fundraisers. Al is extremely deserving of this award and recognition. He goes WELL above and beyond. We are extremely lucky to have him.

Lake Havasu High School is grateful for all that Al does! 👏👏
