And one more wild Amazon today. This youngster was being attacked by crows about a mile away from where the other wild Amazon was rescued today. It was picked up by OC Animal Care and brought to us late this afternoon. There's no particular relationship between the two Amazons today other than the area bounded by 17th St, Fairhaven Ave, Yorba St, and Prospect St in Tustin being a busy wild parrot locale today. Even this young, they are fierce little birds, but food usually soothes the savage beast in the little ones.

I guess it's only fitting that we got in a wild parrot on World Parrot Day. This Amazon was found in Tustin a couple of hours ago. It was in the middle of a very busy street and seemed disoriented and unsteady on its feet. A kind lady stopped, picked it up, and dropped the parrot off to us. She said there were two other Amazons deceased in the street near this one. It isn't known what actually happened to these unfortunate parrots. Please always try to respect the lives of these beautiful creatures whether they are wild or in captivity. We're hoping this one was only stunned and can be returned to a safe area near where it was found. Should it need rehabilitation, we will be in touch with SoCal Parrot.

Please say hello to Kewpie. She's 5 1/2 weeks old and joined the AURA flock last night. Kewpie was one of four baby cockatiels that were surprise hatches for her previous owners. The parents weren't taking care of the babies, so the owners took on the task of hand raising them. Kewpie experienced a feeding mishap and aspirated formula yesterday. The owners rushed her to an ER as quickly as they could. Fortunately, Kewpie was helped, but the ER clinic recommended ongoing treatment for the next 24 hours at an estimated cost of over $5,500. This was not financially possible for the owners, and they did not have the necessary equipment at home to care for Kewpie themselves. The owners started looking for options for Kewpie and found us. Kewpie was, indeed, in dire condition when she arrived last night. She made the night and is doing better today, but we are far from being out of the woods with Kewpie. Please keep Kewpie in your thoughts and prayers.

We wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who so generously supports us through your likes, shares, comments, volunteer work, transports, fostering, adopting, and of course, donations. We're very grateful.

We're singling this one donation out because it is extra special. There is more than $200 in cash and coin in those baggies. This donation was made by three young men, none of whom are even old enough yet to have a learner's permit to drive, and this isn't their first donation. They meticulously put aside a portion of their earnings to support us and other causes that they care about. In today's world, this is perhaps not rare, but it's not common in our experience.

Let's give them and their parents a shout out! The world is a better place with this family in it! 💙💛

PS This family has also adopted two birds from AURA in recent years. Said birds are so loved and so spoiled!

This is the WAGS pigeon graciously picked up and transported to us by the McNally family today. It is NOT a chunky bird that the shelter picture led us to believe. The camera must have made it look fat. 😂 It's a gorgeous 2025 NPA banded Roller Pigeon in good shape EXCEPT for clipped wings. What's with the clipped wings on pigeons today? While we advocate for clipping the wings of parrot type birds, the wings of a pigeon or dove are not usually clipped. There are circumstances such as blindness or other health issues where clipping is needed, but usually, clipped wings on a pigeon or dove would indicate that it was going to be used for dog training, raptor training, or a pigeon shoot. Who knows why this one was clipped.

Quick update on the pigeons from the parking lot of the plumbing company in Sun Valley. They appeared in the parking lot this Wednesday. Nobody knows where they came from. The company provided food and water for them and started trying to find help for the pigeons. They finally found AURA this morning. The birds arrived here around 5 PM this afternoon. They are a bit dirty, disheveled, and thin. Holy Moly, though! Somebody did a real hack job on their wings! They were dumped or walked in from somewhere. They definitely didn't fly there. Thank goodness for the kind people at this business. Better days are ahead for these three.
