ONE REJECTION IS NOT THE END

Of the 66 scholars selected in the 2025 Michael Taiwo Scholarships cohort, 20 had applied before and were not selected.

They could have stopped trying.

They could have assumed they were not good enough.

Instead, they returned with stronger applications, clearer goals, and renewed determination.

Today, they are MT Scholars.

If you applied in a previous cycle and were not selected, remember that a rejection is not the end of your story. Sometimes, it is simply part of the process.

Learn from the experience, improve your application, and then try again.

Your next application could be the one that changes everything.

The 2026 Michael Taiwo Scholarships application is still open.

From Vision Loss to 5 Fully Funded Admissions: The Donaldson Ellis Story

"I wasn't born blind. I was born with partial sightedness. I was diagnosed with glaucoma at age 6."

"I stayed at home for about 6 years before going to the university."

"Something that will take a sighted person 10–50 seconds to read will take me 3–5 minutes to read."

Despite these challenges, Donaldson Ellis refused to let his circumstances define his future.

In this inspiring interview, the 2023 MT Scholar shares his journey through vision loss, resilience, education, and the opportunities that followed.

Watch and discover the story behind a scholar who went on to secure five fully funded graduate admissions.

Jesugbogo Enis is a First-Class graduate of Industrial Chemistry from Wesley University of Science and Technology, where she graduated with an outstanding CGPA of 3.97/4.00 and emerged as the Best Graduating Student in her cohort.

Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Chemistry at Chulalongkorn University, Jesugbogo's academic journey reflects a strong commitment to excellence. Yet beyond the laboratory, she is deeply passionate about education and the science of learning.

Motivated by a desire to help students unlock their full potential, she founded GiftedBrain Academy, an initiative dedicated to equipping learners with effective study techniques and evidence-based learning strategies that improve academic performance.

She also contributes to Kollegescout, where she develops resources that guide high school students through the university application process and help expand access to educational opportunities.

Born in Kogi State, Nigeria, Jesugbogo is now seeking to transition into the field of Learning Sciences through graduate study. She aims to bridge her scientific training with educational research, exploring how people learn and how learning environments can be designed for greater impact.

Her long-term vision is to develop evidence-based learning systems and educational innovations that improve learning outcomes and expand access to quality education across Nigeria and the African continent.

As you begin this new week, remember why you started.

Before the achievements, the recognition, the challenges and the responsibilities, there was a version of you filled with dreams, curiosity, and hope. The person who dared to believe that something greater was possible.

When the journey gets tough, reconnect with that original passion. Let it remind you that your goals are worth pursuing, your efforts are not in vain, and every step forward matters.

This week, don't just work for the results. Work for the dreamer you once were. Make that younger version of yourself proud.

Keep showing up. Keep growing. Keep believing..
