Marshall's Battery - Arkansas Reenactors We are a Civil War reenacting group based in Northeast Arkansas. The first commander was William Totten. Next appointed captain was William Woodruff, Jr.

Marshall's Battery was originally known prior to the Civil War as the 3rd Arkansas Field Battery. The battery was originally organized in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas in December of 1860 prior to the Civil War. After Arkansas decided to join the Confederacy and Totten did not, the name of the unit was changed to the Pulaski Light Artillery and Robert Newton was appointed captain. and the

name was changed to Woodruff's Battery. After the battle of Wilson's Creek, Lt. Omer Rose Weaver was killed and the battery was then known as Weaver's Light Artillery. The battery then went on to serve in the Battle of Helena and the Red River Campaign. The final commander was Captain John G. Marshall, and the battery was known as Marshall's Battery. The battery fought in the segment of the army known as the Army of the Trans-Mississippi. Marshall's fought closely with the 30th Arkansas Infantry, which is represented by members of the Shaver Camp in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
