🚨ALERT🚨 - Be careful of major coastal erosion along Laguna Beach. Dangerous objects could have been uncovered by the recent hurricane swells. Use caution while walking on the beach or in the water. 🚨TRIGGER WARNING - GRAPHIC CONTENT🚨 - Scroll if you don’t want to see a dog biting a seal pup. We are not sure exactly when this happened, but we want to share this horrible video of a persons dog that latched onto a seal pup in Laguna Beach. Ended up ending the life of this wild animal. We are not sure if this video will be removed, but this needs to be shown how fast things can go wrong. Also to always make sure you have a hold of your dog on a leash at all times in Laguna Beach.

For everyone wondering why the community is so upset about people harassing the seal population and or letting their dogs go off leash or let go of their leash along our coastline, this is something that can happen.

It is very disturbing and graphic. We hope NOAA National Ocean Service is aware and Pacific Marine Mammal Center and City of Laguna Beach of this situation. We are not sure who this person is and we heard that this was possibly from many years ago. Either way we want to spread awareness of this situation. We apologize for the graphic video but this is needed to be shown to show how bad our MPA (Marine Protected Area) is getting over run and wildlife actually being harmed. Laguna Beach Unfiltered

🚨Another Tree Cut Down🚨 - Here is a little more information on this Tree Removal in Laguna Canyon that recently happened.

Allegedly there were probe holes at the base of this tree that was confirmed by an arborists. As to what they were used for remains a mystery. Probe holes can be used to check for decay, wood rot, etc. but also can be used to add chemicals or poison to quickly end the life of a tree.
No soil samples were taken, but we wonder what the reasoning of the swift death or browning of the leaves was? Maybe someone can help shed some light on this.

This tree looked like it needed to be removed or at least some of the branches that were growing into the power lines should have been previously trimmed.

We feel the trees that have been cut down should be replaced or plant another tree in close proximity or in the city.

🚨PSA🚨 Gibby Fire 4:05pm - 9/2/2026 No immediate threat to Laguna Beach as of this post. We wanted to just spread more awareness of this fire. Use the app Watch Duty for more updates.
The fire broke out in an unincorporated area of Rancho Mission Viejo near San Juan Capistrano, specifically in the 34700 block of State Route 74 (Ortega Highway) at Gibby Road. Fire crews are on site and battling this blaze. Please be aware of first responders and evacuation orders.
We hope nobody is injured and first responders can get ahold of this fire asap! 🙏🏻

🚨PSA🚨 - Another emergency response at 1000 steps beach. 8/30/2026 - 12:36pm Just a heads up Laguna Beach has been having very dangerous ocean conditions along our coastline. Major hurricane swell with powerful waves. PLEASE use caution when visiting Laguna Beaches. Also major hurricane swell coming next week during the Labor Day Weekend. More possible RED FLAG conditions and unsafe to swim.

🚨PSA🚨 Trigger Warning... We felt the need to show this video because it shows what can happen and does happen here in Laguna Beach along our coastline. - It is not always calm with peaceful conditions in the ocean and the reality is this things can change very fast.

- All of the “Influencers” posting these highly filtered and “come with me” videos here in Laguna Beach don’t show the harsh reality. Hence our account name
“Laguna Beach Unfiltered” - To help spread awareness that our coves and coastline can be extremely dangerous and deadly. Every influencer posting Laguna Beach should be explaining to the masses how dangerous it can be, even when they post a calm day. Conditions can change very rapidly and when we have hurricane swells and strong rip currents things can go bad very fast.

This needs to be shown and taught in schools to educate younger generations and those who are not familiar with the ever changing ocean conditions. This is very sad and very tragic and seems to be happening more frequently. PLEASE respect the ocean and listen to the Lifeguards.
