So proud of Caleb and thankful for partners like Hammond-Jones Hardware!

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Caleb Litts 🌟

Caleb first joined Hammond-Jones Hardware as a student intern through Project SEARCH, and we’re so glad he has recently rejoined our team!

You’ll find Caleb working on the lumber yard and stocking shelves inside the store. He brings a great work ethic to the job and always enjoys seeing our customers. We appreciate his willingness to work hard and the care he puts into what he does.

Caleb, we’re proud to have you back at HJH and grateful for all you bring to our team! 👏

With cooler temperatures rolling in, our Project SEARCH interns are in need of some warmer apparel to wear to work! 🧥❄️

If you’re able, please consider purchasing an item from our wishlist to help keep our interns warm and work-ready this season. You can also help by sharing our wishlist with friends, family, or community members who may be interested in supporting our program.

We are so grateful for the continued support of our interns and Project SEARCH!

We are so proud of our Interns!

Gaining personal mobility is one of the biggest steps a young adult can take toward independence, and we have three huge milestones to celebrate today!

Through our 5-day Transportation Education transition elective, students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become safe, responsible drivers while exploring transportation-related career opportunities and understanding how mobility directly impacts employment and independent living. As part of this course, students get the opportunity to work toward earning either their state ID or driving permit!

Specialist Lindsay McSpadden spent four days this month working with interns at Lafayette Project SEARCH through this course. They spent hours taking practice tests, reviewing road rules, and studying street signage together.

While all three interns were nervous going in, they were so excited for the opportunity - and Lindsay is thrilled to share that all three interns officially passed their permit knowledge test on Wednesday morning!

A massive congratulations to these three hard-working interns on taking this huge step toward their independence!

And a special shoutout to Lindsay for her dedication in coaching and encouraging them through every practice test.

If you are a high school administrator, SPED Coordinator, or Transition Specialist interested in bringing our 1-week Transition Electives to your students, connect with our team today!

Our interns have completed their first two weeks of internship rotations, and we are so proud of the progress they are already making! They are learning new tasks, building workplace skills, gaining confidence, and becoming more independent each day.

A huge thank you to our community partners and supervisors for welcoming our interns, recognizing their abilities, and supporting their journey toward meaningful employment. We cannot wait to see how much they continue to grow throughout this rotation!💙

Thank you to the Walker County Maintenance Department for working so hard to help us make our new office feel like home. We now have a special place to display our Project SEARCH program awards, and we look forward to adding many more in the future!

We’ve had two full and productive weeks preparing for our first internship rotation, and we are so excited for our interns to begin working in the community!

From learning about important places throughout our city to practicing navigation and workplace safety, our interns have been busy building the skills needed for success. We’ve strengthened our teamwork, explored strategies for solving workplace challenges, and even searched for all of the City of LaFayette, GA - Local Government’s hidden bees… a fun way to build stamina, perseverance, and confidence!

Thank you to Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency - GVRA for coming to speak about available services to Project SEARCH!

We ended the week with a special lunch at Wendy’s, celebrating our hard work before we begin rotations.

We want to give a huge shoutout to our community partners who recognize the unique strengths and abilities of every intern and welcome the opportunity to work alongside them. Your support plays an important role as our interns gain meaningful work experience, build independence, and work toward their goal of competitive employment.

We can’t wait to share their accomplishments and growth through the year!
