Be the Bridge: Build Respect, Initiate Dialogue Grow Empathy

Be the Bridge: Build Respect, Initiate Dialogue Grow Empathy We exist because we believe the next generation can rise above division — by learning to listen, connect, and lead with empathy.

BRIDGE empowers students to be the ones who build respect, initiate dialogue, and grow empathy in a divided world.

🇺🇸 Tired of the political division? So are we.
Before politics, we’re all human beings who want safety, opportunity, and respect.

That’s why we created BRIDGE—a youth-led movement choosing connection over division. By Building Respect, Initiating Dialogue, and Growing Empathy, our students are showing what it means to lead with humanity.

💙 Change doesn’t have to wait. It starts with us.
👉 Follow BRIDGE.
👉 Support our youth leaders.
👉 Be part of the movement.

Let’s remind America what unites us.

We teens today are growing up in a world where division, judgment, and misunderstanding are everywhere — and we believe we have the power to make it better!

Violence is never the answer. Not against anyone.

We may not agree with someone’s politics, beliefs, or worldview—but that does not make them less human, less worthy of life, or less deserving of dignity.

We’ve become so divided, so hardened, that we stop seeing each other as people first. Neighbors. Parents. Sons. Daughters. Friends. Human beings.

This is why BRIDGE exists: Build Respect. Initiate Dialogue. Grow Empathy.

Because we cannot heal a country—much less a community—if we refuse to talk, listen, or seek understanding. Empathy isn’t weakness. Dialogue isn’t surrender. Respect isn’t approval. These are the tools that keep us human when the world feels anything but.

If we give up on seeing one another’s humanity, violence fills the vacuum.

We cannot let that be the story of America.

At BRIDGE we believe we can choose a different path. We can start by listening. By building respect. By initiating dialogue. By growing empathy. That’s what BRIDGE is about, and it’s what our world needs more than ever.

Let’s not let hate win. Let’s choose humanity.

🌍 International Youth Day 🌍
Today, we celebrate the power, potential, and purpose of young people everywhere.

Our youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow — they are the changemakers of today. They are dreamers who imagine a better world, and doers who take the steps to make it real.

That’s exactly what BRIDGE is about:
Build Respect. Initiate Dialogue. Grow Empathy.
We are a student-led initiative creating spaces where teens can listen, connect, and have real conversations across differences — because empathy is the first step toward unity.

Every day, we see the magic that happens when young people choose to be the bridge, not the barrier. And we believe that when we stand together, there’s no divide too wide to cross.

If you believe in kindness over conflict, listening over judging, and connection over division — we invite you to join us.

BRIDGE is off to an amazing start with 7 high schools getting ready to launch! We've gotten a few questions about the time commitment for being a Chapter President so posting it here.

🌉 BRIDGE Chapter Founder Q&A — How Much Time Does It Really Take? 🌉

We’ve been hearing great questions from parents and students about starting a BRIDGE chapter — especially around time commitment. Let’s break it down:

Q: How much time does launching BRIDGE take?
👉 Just 1–2 hours per month.

Q: What exactly do students do each month?
👉 Lead one 30–60 minute meeting at their school
👉 Join one 30–60 minute leadership call with other BRIDGE student

Q: Are there resources to help?
👉 YES! We provide everything — from discussion guides to activity ideas — so students don’t have to start from scratch.

Q: Is this a good leadership opportunity for college applications?
👉 Absolutely! Founding a chapter demonstrates initiative, leadership, empathy, and community impact — all things colleges love to see.

If your student is curious but worried about overcommitting, BRIDGE is designed to be simple, meaningful, and sustainable.

Calling all parents of teens—wherever you are in the world! 🌍

Do you know a student who wants to make a difference? Who cares deeply about kindness, empathy, and building real leadership skills?

My son Carter launched a teen-led nonprofit called BRIDGE (Build Respect, Initiate Dialogue, Grow Empathy), and after he wraps up his AP exams next week, he’s setting his sights on something BIG:

👉 Expanding BRIDGE to 25 schools across the country.

BRIDGE empowers teens to lead important conversations, promote inclusion, and take on leadership roles that actually matter. This is a nonprofit run by teens, for teens—and it officially kicks off this June.

Carter is looking for student leaders who want to:
✔️ Start a BRIDGE chapter at their school
✔️ Step into a leadership role within the nonprofit
✔️ Help build a movement of empathy, connection, and courageous conversations

If this sounds like your teen—or someone you know—please check out the BRIDGE website or email Carter directly at [email protected].

One of the things we've been working on at BRIDGE is creating empathy videos to remind teens that we are all going through something! Here's our first one. Our goal is to get teens creating their own videos, art projects, poetry and sharing their stories with one another. As one of our young leaders said, "It's important for others to know they aren't alone!"

Welcome to our "BE THE BRIDGE" page!

Not long ago, my 17-year-old son, Carter, and I were having one of our deep talks about the state of the world—the division, the anger, the way people seem to shout past each other instead of truly listening. I remember saying, "Of all the problems out there, this might be the hardest one to fix."

And in typical Carter fashion, he looked at me and said, "Then that’s the one I want to work on."

That moment sparked something big.

Introducing BRIDGE — Build Respect, Initiate Dialogue, Grow Empathy — a youth-led nonprofit Carter founded to take on what so many say is “unsolvable”: the growing divide in our schools and communities. BRIDGE creates safe, student-led spaces for real conversations across personal, social, cultural, and political differences.

It’s bold. It’s idealistic. And it’s needed now more than ever.
He’s launching BRIDGE today and we need YOUR help. He’s already scheduling meetings with city officials and educators and rallying students who are ready to lead with empathy—and this is just the beginning.

Watch this space for more to come.
And if you’re interested in supporting, volunteering, or helping spread the word, please message me—we’d love to have you involved.

Because the biggest problems sometimes just need someone brave enough to try.
