Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the Allied forces who landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

On the anniversary of D-Day, we remember the thousands of service members who faced unimaginable challenges in the fight for freedom. Their bravery helped change the course of history and secured liberties that continue to shape our world today.

As we reflect on their legacy, we also recognize the enduring service and sacrifice of all Veterans who have answered the call to serve.

We will never forget the heroes of D-Day and the generations who have carried their commitment to duty, honor, and country forward.

Wrapping up the school year with the Woodland Elementary Military Lunch Group across all three lunch periods!

We spent time talking about military life, service, and what it means to be a military-connected kiddo. Many of the students come from active-duty families, while others are from veteran families. It was incredible hearing their stories and discovering the similarities between their experiences, my own military service, and the unique places we’ve all had the opportunity to call home.

One of the highlights was sharing my military hat collection—many acquired through trades with allied service members from around the world and others gifted by international military students. The stories behind each hat sparked great conversations and lots of curiosity.

I love seeing our school district create opportunities for military and veteran families to connect, support one another, and build community. Programs like this remind our military youth that they are seen, valued, and never alone in their journey.

A Hero’s Promise is proud to support these programs and invest in the next generation of military-connected youth.
