🐾 COCO’S ROAD TO RECOVERY! 🐾

Our little Coco had his vet appointment today, and the doctor got to examine his little neglected body. ❤️‍🩹

Unfortunately, we discovered a few things that need attention. Coco has an ulcer on one of his eyes, and he was prescribed medication to treat it. The doctor suspects that all the hair covering his little face may have contributed to the problem.

He also has a small hernia that will be repaired when he gets neutered next week. On a positive note, Coco tested negative for heartworms! 🙏🏻 However, he did test positive for a tick-borne disease, so he was started on medication for that as well.

Despite everything this little boy has been through, he is finally getting the veterinary care, love, and attention he deserves. He has a long way to go, but we are committed to helping him heal and giving him the happy, healthy life he should have always had. 🐶❤️

You guys remember Kate? Kate was returned to us about a month ago after being adopted out 7 years before. Today she had a couple of procedures done to get her ready for adoption again. She had a cyst removed from her backside and a procedure to correct a recessed v***a. Hopefully the latter procedure will help with her recurrent UTIs. As soon as she heals, she will be ready for adoption.

Little Coco finally got his much-needed grooming yesterday, guys! ❤️ He is looking so much better!

This Friday, Coco has an appointment with our vet for his vaccines and some testing. We also want the vet to check a possible small hernia and take a look at his eyes.

This evening, we welcomed this sweet boy to Ana’s Safe Haven Rescue. ❤️

One of our fosters spotted him tied to a tree at a home she was visiting. When she asked the owners why he was outside, they said they simply no longer had time for him. 💔

She asked if she could take him, and they were happy to let him go. She immediately agreed to foster him for us, giving this boy a chance at the life he deserves. 🐾❤️

At just one year old, he has had no vetting, so we’ll be starting from scratch—vaccines, preventatives, testing, neutering, microchip, and everything else he needs to get healthy and ready for his forever home.

🐾 FIVE LITTLE GIRLS JUST GOT A SECOND CHANCE! 🐾

Today, we accepted and picked up this precious litter of 5 puppies who were about to be surrendered to our local shelter. 😢💔 We just couldn’t let that happen.

These sweet girls are only about 2 months old and are believed to be Terrier/Dachshund mixes. And yes… they are ALL GIRLS! 👧🏻🐶

They were owner-surrendered by an older, low-income couple who unfortunately could no longer care for them. We are currently trying to learn more about their mom and determine whether she will be spayed or if she needs our help getting spayed. We want to make sure we help Mom, too, so this cycle doesn’t continue. ❤️

Now comes the hard part: we need fosters. 🙏

We are a foster-based rescue, which means we can only continue saving dogs when people are willing to open their homes and hearts to them.

❤️ WE NEED FOSTERS — BECAUSE ONE OPEN SPOT CAN SAVE A LIFE. ❤️

Somewhere right now, there is a dog sleeping on a cold street, wandering hungry and scared, or sitting in a shelter wondering why nobody has come for them.

We see them. We know they are out there.
And we want to help them. But we need you. 🐾

Our rescue is completely foster-based. We don’t have a facility filled with kennels where we can simply bring another dog. The only way we can save a dog is when someone opens their home and their heart to foster.

Fostering doesn’t have to be forever.
You provide a safe place, love, patience, and a chance to decompress. We provide the supplies and veterinary care. And together, we give that dog the opportunity to become the happy, loved companion they were always meant to be. ❤️

And here’s the beautiful part…

When you foster a dog and help them find their forever family, you make room for us to save another dog.

Your spare room could mean a dog doesn’t have to spend another night on the streets.

Your backyard could mean a shelter dog gets another chance.

Your couch could be the first safe place a frightened dog has ever known.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes dogs we have adopted out are returned to us. 💔 Kate is one of those dogs.

We adopted our sweet Kate when she was just 3–4 months old, and she has been part of a family for over 7 years. Two weeks ago, we received the heartbreaking news that Kate was being returned. Of course, we welcomed our girl back with open arms. ❤️

But since coming back into our care, Kate has been dealing with some medical issues. She has been experiencing recurring UTIs, so today we took her to the veterinarian to begin getting answers and figuring out why this keeps happening.

Today alone, we spent $462 on her veterinary care and diagnostic testing. Kate also needed to get caught up on her yearly heartworm testing and vaccines.

We never know when one of our dogs will need unexpected medical care, and these expenses can add up very quickly. We are committed to giving Kate the care she needs, but we could really use your help.

Please help us wish our sweet Buddy a wonderful life as he finally found his forever home in Michigan! 🏡🐾💙

It took us 7 long months to find the perfect home for our boy, but we never gave up. We knew that somewhere out there was the family Buddy was meant to have—and we are so happy that we finally found them! 🥰

Buddy deserves nothing but the very best, and we are beyond grateful to his new family for opening their hearts and home to him. ❤️
