Justice For Peyton

Justice For Peyton Watertown NY City Firefighter Peyton Lane S. Morse died on March 12th, 2021, after an incident at the NYS Fire Academy in Montour Falls, NY.

This academy has a history of injuries, abuse, hazing, and discrimination. We are seeking Justice for Peyton. Peyton lived a life of service, as a member of the La Fargeville and Shaker Road Loudonville volunteer Fire Departments, before taking his dream job with the Watertown Fire Department. Peyton graduated posthumously from Siena College, worked for Rusty Johnson Masonry, the Watertown Saving

s Bank, and the Robinson Family Farm. He worked hard and stood up for others, even when unpopular. Peyton died during training, under suspicious circumstances. There has been no transparency with the investigation, and repeated calls to the NYS Attorney General to have a thorough and independent investigation have gone unanswered. There have been numerous unnecessary injuries at this Academy although complaints have been filed, changes weren’t made. Peyton was the 6th member of his class that required outside medical attention. In only 2 1/2 weeks! 3 were for severe dehydration, which with proper supervision and rehab, is completely avoidable. Peyton had told his father that he believed the female recruits were being unfairly targeted and abused. A past recruit had her nose broken. Another recruit suffered a career ending injury. This are just what we have learned in a short period of time. A culture of abuse, hazing, improper supervision and rehab, and unrealistic training expectation, including sleep deprivation exists. This has been allowed for decades. We seek justice for Peyton, for the past victims, and for the future trainees. No one should suffer abuse, and no family should suffer this loss. The family has also partnered with the Northern New York Community Foundation to manage the Peyton Lane S Morse Legacy Foundation. This will be a perpetual Foundation, that will provide Awards to Graduating La Fargeville Central Seniors, provide assistance to Local Fire Departments for training, equipment, and repairs, provide assistance to Community organizations, and people in need. This will continue Peyton’s Legacy of helping others. We will be using this page to bring you updates on this case, ask for help, and for introducing you all to the great human being that Peyton was. Please help us get .

A State and County that takes responsibility for a death at their academy. A leader stepping up, doing the right thing, ensuring another tragedy doesn't happen. Certainly doesn't happen in ny.

BREAKING: Major changes are in store for the Massachusetts State Police and the training academy is now closed to new recruits after a report called for over 100 reforms.

We were honored to be able to participate with Operation Song last night at the Harbor Hotel in Clayton, NY. Peyton's family was paired with Singer/Songwriter Kelli Johnson, who not only is an amazing artist, but an amazing soul. Miss Kelli made us feel so at ease, got us talking, listened to our stories, and wrote this amazing tribute to Peyton. All from Operation Song were so amazing and compassionate. They blew us away. We say thank you to Operation Song and all the Sponsers who made this night possible, especially North Country Troopers assisting Troops and Adam Swenson who called us and convinced us to participate. H. Wood Farms and The Barn Bar and Grill. Peyton got to know you all through Ethan and The Barn is certainly Mom, Dad, and Parker's place when we need some time out. Rusty Johnson Masonry, where Peyton worked and who treated Peyton like Family and certainly Ethan Johnson - not sure what to say Ethan, you know what you meant to Peyton, and you've been there for Mom, Dad and Parker through it all, and can always bring a smile to our faces, even though you won't tell Dad All the stories... Watertown Savings Bank where Peyton worked one summer and who still considers Peyton Family. Thank you all.

That's Peyton on the left, hugging his older brother.
This was the families first family vacation, a surprise trip to Walt Disney World, and what a surprise it was.
Peyton didn't ask for much, and was almost always happy. He found happiness everywhere.
Mom and Dad picked him and his brother up at school. He was so excited both parents where there. When Peyton realized we weren't heading home, he asked where we were going. We told him Watertown. He was so excited. When we passed Watertown, he asked again. We said going to Uncle Mark's. He was so excited. When we passed Adam's, he asked again, we told him Syracuse, to see his Grandfather and eat at Olive Garden. He said best early birthday! When we finished dinner, we went to the Holiday Inn, he was beside himself. When we woke him up at 3:30 AM, he was tired, but happy. What's going on? Then pure happiness and excitement when he found out Walt Disney World. Such an amazing trip.
For Peyton though, he would have been happy just having all of us home for his birthday, no matter what we did.
He didn't expect much, and he certainly didn't get much from nys and the poor excuse for a fire academy they protect.
He deserved better, we deserve better, and that kid in the picture that Peyton is hugging, he deserved better. We all lost so much when nys and it's agents stole Peyton from us. Parker lost his brother and best friend, and is left with parents that are wrecks. Peyton would have done the right thing. WWPD? Shame on all those involved in Peyton's death and the cover up.
