DIALOGUES: Calcutta International LGBT Film & Video Festival

DIALOGUES: Calcutta International LGBT Film & Video Festival The 17th edition of DIALOGUES begins this year from November 17th This festival will include films from around the country and abroad.

DIALOGUES was launched in 2007 as an annual cultural event in the city of Kokata, already used to hosting diverse film and video festivals covering different genres and aspects. The festival is a celebration of writers, directors, actors and
their work dealing with gay lesbian, bisexual, and transgender themes and issues. The Festival focuses on showcasing feature films, shorts, and videos from na

tional and international filmmakers, typically highlighting major feature films of interest to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, simultaneously providing a much-needed venue for independent film and video from India and abroad on these themes. Goethe-Institut /Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata has supported the festival ever since its beginning. Special mention should be made of specially curated packages from the Dresden Film festval and Berlinale. The Festival is put together by SAPPHO FOR EQUALITY and PRATYAY GENDER TRUST. Sappho is an activist platform for the rights of lesbian, bisexual women and transgender persons and Pratyay is a sexualities and human rights advocacy initiative for transgender women. Along with these 2 organisations DIALOGUES gets organising support from Calcutta’s larger queer community and allies and Goethe-Institut /Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata.
