I want to share this video of my son getting E-Stim acupuncture, just to let other stroke survivors and care givers know what's out there, that may potentially help in stroke recovery. This is his very first session so it will take awhile to see any results. When it comes to trying new things we're always game because stroke warriors never give up!

Some days are about big milestones. Most days are just about showing up. Whether you’re 4 months or 4 years post-stroke, remember: Forward is forward. Take a breath, take a step, and keep going. You’re doing better than you think.

Hi friends! I am trying to connect stroke survivors in Knoxville. A stroke is devastating enough and even worse without having a group, or even just one or two friends going through the same thing that you can connect with. I'm starting this group initially for my son, and hopefully for any others who just need a friend. If there is enough interest we can have get together's, go out to eat, or just hang out. Nothing fancy, just a way for people who have been through a stroke to meet others who have been through the same thing. Open to anyone who has had a stroke and to caregivers. I'm open to any and all ideas. Just like this page and feel free to comment and let's get to know some new friends! 😃

Eileen Haas: From "Go-Getter" to Overcomer
Eileen Haas was an active copywriter and amateur pilot when a hemorrhagic stroke suddenly changed everything. In an instant, she went from flying planes to being unable to walk, eventually losing her career and even her beloved dog, Scout, as she could no longer care for him.
The Turning Point
The road back was grueling. Eileen faced deep depression and a "brick wall" in her physical progress after three years of recovery. However, she refused to let her story end there. To reclaim her life, she:
Adapted: Left with right-side weakness, she taught herself to type with her left hand.
Created: She turned her pain into purpose, writing a memoir and starting a blog to help other survivors.
Opened her heart: When she was ready, she adopted a new rescue dog, Millie, shifting her focus from her disabilities to the joy of caregiving.
The Lessons Learned
Today, Eileen lives a quieter but more intentional life. Though she still works toward goals like riding her bike and walking unaided, she has found a peace she didn't have before.
"Having a stroke is one of the worst things that ever happened to me, but through my recovery, I discovered that I was even stronger than I knew."
