The last meet of the 2025 Cross Country season was awesome. We had three athletes from Mexico compete in their respective national championship race.
It had rained for about half the week at the venue and there was standing water, slick mud covered hills, but it was an opportunity to compete with some of the best this country has to offer, along with Bermuda and Puerto Rico runners. As the national anthem played, as if on queue, the sun finally came out and the rain stopped.
Our runners started off early with a bang with the high school girls division. We have our first All-American in program history and her name is Maggie Ramsey. She finished in 7th place in her age group. She's a senior this year and this was her first time competing outside of Missouri. She was a little nervous but trusted her training. FYI, if there are any college coaches looking for a solid person on and off the course, this girl will work hard for you.
Secondly, Lydia Bowen in the 10u girls group ran one of her best races (narrowly missing a season best mark set at the CMAC Conference meet last month) of the season and a 25 second improvement over last year's mark at the national championships. With her CMAC team of girls, they brought home 2nd place in the country with 5 individual All-Americans.
Last up from Mexico was Landon Blue. Landon has experience running but this was his first year at the national meet as well. After a frustrating regional meet, he came out on fire and recorded his best time of the year, proving that the regional meet was just a fluke and finished in the top 100 in his age group and helped his age group team to a 4th place finish in the country.
While this season may be over, we are already dreaming of growing the next group of runners. Enjoy your Thanksgiving celebrations. We are thankful for each of you and look forward to seeing many of you for track this spring/summer.
