So many of you watch our meetings without having the opportunity to attend. I am thankful that you join us from so many different places. However, you do not get to participate in the activities that we do in small groups. For that reason, I want to share with you the things we are doing this week pertaining to GRACE. I hope that you will complete these things. Let me know how you feel about doing this.

Grace Exercises

Control Inventory
Write down:
 One thing you cannot control
 One thing you keep trying to control
 One thing you will surrender to God this week

Grace Reflection
Finish this sentence:
“If I truly believed God’s grace applied to me, I would…”

Putting Grace in Action Challenge
This week:
• Offer grace to yourself once daily.
• Offer grace to one other person intentionally.

Examples:
Admit a mistake without hiding.
Forgive instead of retaliating.
Ask for help.

Letting Go Prayer Exercise
Silently say:
“God, I release what I cannot control.”
(Repeat slowly three times.)

We were honored at First Baptist Church Sweetwater today by being named a Faith-based Recovery Congregation by Kate Parsons from the State of Tennessee Faith-based initiative. It has taken an entire village of people to make this possible. It has taken: those that attend weekly, those that lead worship and give testimonies, our greeters, those that pick up and deliver food and the containers that carry our food donated by Donna's Cafe in Madisonville, those that provide food and desserts, those that serve, those that run the A/V, those that contribute financially, those that lift prayers, those that lead small groups, and those of you that join us online. We are all one family. This program began 10 years ago and continues to strive to be a safe place for broken people. I thank you and pray that God will touch you in some way through this program and grow this program through you.

Here we find Jesus sitting down to eat with the despised tax collectors and sinners. Despite the judgmental stares and whispers of the onlookers, Jesus engages in conversation with the tax collectors and sinners, showing them love and acceptance.

This message is key to recovery. These verses encourage us to recognize our own shortcomings and imperfections. It can also teach us to show more love, grace and mercy to others that may not look like, act like, or believe like us. When we do this, we may be more open to the message of repentance and salvation. Just as Jesus was eating with those that were not well thought of, this passage hopefully helps us see that everyone is deserving of God's love, grace and mercy.
If God shows us mercy, then who are we to not show mercy to others? Just as Jesus did, we come not only for the healthy, but to those that need help. Sometimes it is others that need help. Often it is "we" that are in desperate need of help. Where are you in this?
