Airport Ground Transportation Association - AGTA

Airport Ground Transportation Association - AGTA AGTA is an association of transportation operators, airports, and industry suppliers dedicated to continuous improvement at the airport curb.

In just a few short years, TNCs have become the largest segment of commercial ground transportation serving the airport curb. Prior to the pandemic, TNCs represented 70% or more of the commercial traffic from many of our largest airports. Consumers had shifted their mode preference toward the private use of a vehicle to and from the airport directly to their destination. Touchless transportation and avoidance of crowded situations currently only strengthen this preference.

Join us on Wednesday, August 26 at 3:00 p.m. EDT as AGTA holds its bi-weekly seminar, “Let’s Talk About It”, this time featuring Don Griffin, with Lyft and Dominic Ferrario, representing Uber as they discuss what TNCs have found works for them at airports and how these TNCs are handling the pandemic.

AGTA’s next semi-weekly “Let’s Talk About It” Zoom session on Wed. July 29, 2020 at 3pm Eastern; will feature a case example of how a major U.S. airport, Austin-Bergstrom International, went about reviewing, soliciting, and implementing a new ground transportation management system. Panelists include Carlton Thomas, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Lynn Richardson and Anne Turner from Gatekeeper, and Forrest Swonsen from Transcore.

Panelists will present and discuss in detail how the review was undertaken and how software and hardware providers worked in concert with the airport to develop the new system – ready for use as we emerge from the pandemic and as air travel resumes.

The emergence of transportation network companies, or TNCs, has been a charged topic in Austin, TX. Uber and Lyft left abruptly in 2016 after a squabble with the city over fingerprinting requirements. One year later, the regulation shifted, and they were back in the city and operating in full force....

We have received some inquiries about the status of our upcoming meeting.

As you know, the downtown Nashville area was hit with a devastating tornado during the night, but I spoke with our conference assistant at the hotel, and all is well in their particular area. Ole Red, too fared well through the storm...so we can meet (and eat) as planned.

As of this time, it does not appear that in Tennessee there have been any known cases of the virus that we've all heard so much about. It is my understanding that hotels in the U.S. are taking unprecedented precautions to keep their environs as sanitary and bacteria-free as possible, and I'm certain that Marriott is on top of the situation.

As a primarily domestic US and Canada meeting, at this time we think that we can proceed with our plans. If your company or airport restricts travel so you will be unable to attend, please send us notification of that policy for us to share with the hotel. You should check your hotel confirmation for their policy on cancellations should that become necessary.

To the rest of you ---- and we hope most of you...We will see you in a few days in the land of country music. We look forward to what promises to be an excellent meeting, with invaluable information from and for your colleagues. Be sure to check the attached program for the most current information about what you'll learn over a couple days.

We will advise immediately of any changes.
