Teddy is one of the kids the Sevier County Jaycees were able to sponsor for a week at Camp Discovery in Gainesboro, TN — and just look at that smile! From goofy poses to bunk-bed hangouts, Teddy gets to spend the week making memories, forging friendships, and simply getting to be a kid in a place built just for him.
About Camp Discovery: Nestled on 183+ acres near Cordell Hull Lake, right between Nashville and Knoxville, Camp Discovery has been serving Tennessee kids and adults with disabilities since 1983. It's a week-long overnight camp where campers with special needs experience adventure, fun, and a genuine sense of belonging — with round-the-clock nursing staff, a counselor-to-camper ratio as close to 1:3 as possible, and a whole team dedicated to making sure every single camper feels safe, celebrated, and included.
Here's the thing — camp doesn't run on good intentions alone. It takes sponsors to cover camper fees, volunteers to serve as counselors and staff, and donors to keep the facilities running. Every kid we're able to send is because someone stepped up.
That's why the Sevier County Jaycees keep showing up — because it's not just a Sevier County cause, it's a Tennessee Jaycees cause. The Tennessee Jaycees believe every kid, no matter their ability, deserves the chance to go to camp.
