Wednesday afternoon we formerly opened our Polytunnel here at Valentia Island Community Hospital the sun shone and the day was just perfect. Our tunnel is looking great and it has been named in honour of the late Jackie "Tullig" O'Sullivan who was a long serving member of the board of Valentia Hospital and gave so generously of his time to us all. We were joined by Sheila & Margaret McCarthy, close family of Jackie and the tunnel was blessed by Fr. Pat Murphy and Councillor Tommy Cahill officially unveiled the Valentia Slate plaque in Jackie's honour. Also attending were Dan Keane and Ben Deventer from Polytunnels Kenmare and the ceremony was beautifully hosted by Conn O'Shea & Stephanie Flaherty with music by Ger O'Shea and refreshements by Ashling O'Shea.

Valentia Island Community Hospital are delighted to have taken delivery of this beautiful picnic table made from recycled plastic at Murrays RecycledPlastic with the help of the at Kerry County Council.

Your local Community Hospital is looking for RGNs to cover some nursing shifts. It doesn't have to be full time or all the time!! Just get an interview and the paperwork sorted and you can do shifts now and then to keep the place local and the community supported and cared for. Valentia Island First Responders and Portmagee Community First Responders would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Cnuicín Rowing Club & The Watch House for their fund raising events held to help finance the addition of a Solar Powered AED & Solar Powered Cabinet to cover the Portmagee side of Valentia Island in the event of a medical emergency. We also would like to thank Aidan Ford at Valentia Slate who are also installing an AED to cover emergencies at that side of the Island. An AED can save a life and the more units we have mean it's easier to access one in the event of an emergency.
